It's Empathy:
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Empathy
Edit: and to clarify, with Awareness you could see the enemy's exact hitpoints, possible injuries and the gun they were wielding. Empathy only colored your dialogue options, you didn't get any extra dialog with it.

The color wasn't the point. It was basically severely limiting choices to three paths.
In the originals you were able to pick different choices which had different results that didn't funnel you into good, neutral, bad.

The difference is you didn't always know which was which. In ME they are in the same spot every time. Paragon on top, Renegade on bottom. On the other side you had Charm on top and Bully on bottom. In the middle you had neutral. Every. Time.
Fallout wasn't so cut and dried and often when you thought you were doing the right thing you may end up doing something wrong to somebody else.
There are certainly similarities. Good, evil, neutral.. but ME made it foolproof whereas Fallout made it convoluted. A middle ground would be nice.
And yeah, that Eurogamer 'preview' is trash. He totatlly shits on the graphics when everyone can plainly see they are pretty fucking awesome.

The graphics are pretty mediocre actually.
Look at the textures. Same washed out Oblivion ones. And the lighting seems like they just overdid the bloom.

256MB RAM on consoles, what do you expect? But that's a minor issue, a mod will be out to fix that in no time (like in Oblivion).

Arghh I hate the waiting. I want to play it already so I could decide for myself if this game is good or not!
I hope they keep the kind of soundtrack they used in the previous fallout games, in particular the melody that plays while you're in towns and villages and such, that mellow yet weird melody. If not I'm sure it'll get modded in by someone.

Well then I'm sure someone will mod it in... Got a link to that story?

It was on GameInformer, apparently Jeremy Soule - a massive fan of the original FO titles - was asked to create the soundtrack, but when he made demo tracks ... Bethesda shot it down straight away and gave him the "don't call us, we'll call you" line.
Quote: |
GI: Thank you for setting down with us, Jeremy. Let's get right down to the point. You have been the composer for Bethesda's previous two hits, The Elder Scrolls Morrowind and Oblivion. Among many other things, both were critically acclaimed for their amazing soundtracks. Recently, Bethesda released several audio clips of Fallout 3's music, composed by Inon Zur. We, the fans, want to know the real reason you are not scoring the music for the upcoming Fallout 3.
JS: Bethesda did approach me for the Fallout 3 project. I have always been a long time fan of Fallout and Fallout 2, so I was more than excited. I contacted Mark Morgan, the original composer of Fallout, for help on the project. We collaborated and really tried to capture the atmosphere of the originals. I put together several demo tracks for the producers over at Bethesda to preview. They didn't like them.
GI: Bethesda didn't like them? They told you this?
JS: Not directly. What Bethesda wanted was a more epic tone, and one that was on par with their past fantasy efforts and recent shooters. I told them that I didn't feel Fallout was compatible with that kind of music. It's not. It's the complete opposite of what they're doing. Apparently, they didn't like this too much. Executive producer Todd Howard said they would think about it and call me back with an answer. I still haven't received that call.
GI: That's amazing. How are you feeling about it?
JS: I am still a little depressed, to tell you the truth. I loved the original Fallout games, and don't quite know what to expect now. I wish them all the luck with Ion Zerg though.
GI: Inon Zur.
JS: Yes. Good luck to them.
GI: We would like to thank legendary composer Jeremy Soule for this glimpse into Fallout 3!

Thanks. Maybe if he's such a big fan of the fallout world he could release the tracks he made online.
Anyway, that's depressing.. But Bethesda changed so much , maybe an epic tune would be more fitting? Who knows, we'll see...
Damn it, can't wait to play it already!

Oh and by the way, I can't confirm if that interview is real or fake .. just an FYI. It was just something I saw on another forum.

Definitely a fake interview. Soule wouldn't ruin his chances to ever work with Bethesda again like that.
There are some tracks on the official site that you can listen to. They sound great.
You can also get a bonus CD right now if you preorder at Gamestop. I've heard it's fantastic but Gamestop can die in a fire.
Might be able to 'acquire' the tracks somewhere else though.
Ah looks like the only ingame music on the preorder disk is the same as on the website. So just go there.

I haven't seen an actual link to this so-called interview. Just a 'transcript'.
The only official word from Soule's camp is that he has not and is not doing anything for Fallout 3.
P.S. The 'upcoming' issue of Game Informer that this was supposedly taken from never had any such thing in it. Neither did the next 6. So yeah, completely fake. Besides, why would Game Informer do an interview with a musician who hasn't done and isn't doing anything with the game?
This was probably cooked up by some nut on NMA months ago.

Supersafesecureforce Online.
No. No one knows what fucking protection a game releasing 2 months or more from now is using.

Bethesda owns a license to use SecuRom, so theres a high likelyhood that thats what it's going to be.
And no, there won't be a crack of it in the first week after release, so you can stop worrying.
