I have been playing the game just fine for the past few days. I went to crank up the game this morning and when I go to load a saved game it crashes to the desktop with the message "Could not aquire necessary games files because connection to Steam was lost." This only happens when I try to load a saved game. If I try to start a new game it works fine. Please help!
Well, I had to delete the game and reinstall it. That fixed it. The problem seemed to have occurred after I ran AdAware. Perhaps AdAware thinks that something in Half Life 2 is spyware and deletes it.
