Yes, I rather like over-bright bloom and blur, I think it's stylized and fits some games, like GTA4, very well.

Those are not PC shots. They may be 1920x1200, but anyone with common sense can see they are just 1280x720 pics blown (upscaled) to higher res. Why do people keep posting them?

Ati already gained a significant leap with the introduction of the 3800 series. Affordable, fast, less power consuming and crossfire combinations were cheaper and faster than the top range nvidia model at that time.
The 4870 is the continuation of this development and they have improved even more. Ati is the one that's progressing here Karmeck, not nvidia. Nvidia just sat around waiting for far too long and were shown the bitter truth that rival companies can kick you in the face when they're lying on their backs.
"YARR! We be stealin' yer games an plundrin' yer gold!" sez the pirate.

Fucking A!
You call releasing yet ANOTHER derivative of the same fucking card PROGRESSION!? Yeah, that's logical.
Let's list them in order of release, shall we hmm?
8800GTX
8800Ultra
8800GTS-320
8800GTS-640
8800GT-G92
8800GTS-G92
8800GTS-G80-512
8800GSO
8800GS
9800GX2
9800GTX
9800GTX+
9800GT
9800GSO
9800GS
... I'm sorry, k whut? That's progression is it? The 4870 is faster than every one of those, except the GX2, and it costs less too! One card, costing less and with a more efficient design, beats nVidia's ENTIRE 8800 and 9800 range. The 4850 is also faster than every card there with the exception of the GX2 and the Ultra in *some* tests, but not all.
Now what are nVidia doing? Oh yes, once again; rehashing the same fucking card and releasing it LESS than 3 months after their last one! The GTX-280 hasn't been out a QUARTER yet .. and now nV are saying "Oh sorry, teehee, that card is obsolete now... here, have our new one. Lower fabrication and GDDR5 instead of GDDR3, but it's still the same card. What's that? Can you have a rebate or a refund? hahahaha, oh my no..."
Fuck you and your fucking "progression"

Nvidia got the lead in the market for more than 1 year with the G80 8800 series; I guess they thought ATI wouldn't come back from the HD2900 fiasco so they got sloppy.
Serves them right now.

That's not their fault. You just have bad luck.
Which is kinda like me and PC Hardware. Almost 70% of the hardware I buy always have defects which means I have to have them RMA'd or replaced or whatever, which costs me more in shipping.
Doesn't stop me from making rational choices.

I have to agree on one thing; ATi's support for OpenGL was, and in some cases still is, poorly implemented. Soldier of Fortune 1 works great, as does Elite Force 1 and Quake 3 -- yet the same can't be said for SoF2, Elite Force 2 or Q3-Arena. I, myself, am desperately trying to get SoF2/EF2 working on my 4850, but having limited success
As for the Crysis issues? Non-existent for me. Crysis looks perfect and runs a considerable amount faster than it did on my 8800GT.
The way I see it, both companies have their benefits and drawbacks - my decision to "bash" nVidia comes not from their hardware, but their sales policy.

What topic? GTA4 is coming to PC, yay, but what is there to talk about? Not even one PC screenshot is out.
