they released 3 (or 2) patches in a couple of days.. i would say that the general opinion should be that they are fixing it fast

Vikerness you've read wrong, there's only one patch which updates the game from 1.5.0 to 1.5.003 Smile

Managed to bypass the program incompatibilities with Star-Force and SPTD by using the XP computer and DT 3.47 together with the utility ReadCD to extract a working key from the image. (Read CD is a official Star-Force utility for faulty discs or units.) but as the .MDS file appears to be incorrect the disc won't fully verify, though it might also be those blacklists from SF itself.

the MDS from the 4.2gb image is indeed incorrect but i heard that there's another imagine, 5.1gb wich is .. working .. i was going to try the 5.1gb MDS with the 4.2bg ISO.. but it probably wont work and i cant find that mds either..

153 pages on russian forums full with fakes and bad ideas.. i'm still waiting for a solution tho

@streetunder we already know that you're here to bash this but at least wait until you've played it k

Neither the one nor the other.

Russian - SF 5.6 in executable and dlls
EU - Tages
Online - Steam Crypter

Hope those are accurate as Tages is a pretty small and non-intrusive protection compared to Starforce and Securom while still being a pretty strong protection.
(And it's also fully possible to emulate it via recent versions of Daemon Tools.)

Don't really know anything about Steams protection but a Steam "rip" is also a possibility unless there's some custom stuff ontop of the default encryption and protection.

EDIT: Also found a better MDS file with a little help but even with the correct topography and RMPS stuff it won't verify the disc plus it'll BSOD if you try to many times if you use Daemon or Alcohol to emulate the image. (Unsure if it's a bug or if the SF devs added it.)

Ukrainian edition will be released this Friday though so that might be one way to bypass the protection depending on how it's protected and even if that fails there would only be another week until the EU/US edition is released. (Finally, hope they either implemented the patch or have it available for download directly, there's a ton of bugs based on various google translations on a few Russian sites and the Russian sections of the official Stalker website.)

Dont worry even with a good MDS you can not play any sf 5.6 clone at the moment. There is some stuff embedded in Starforce 5.6 that prevents clones working. If you are a system coder you can get the clone working by touching the drivers code or patching vmware.

About EU. The DVD will have TAGES API and TAGES Twinsectors but as it is Deep Silver you can make a bet that Deep Silver will add Solidshield as VM Protection to protect some important game functions and the TAGES API calls with the VM of Solidshield. Smile Prey that the Razor guys are as good as they claim in the Perry Rhodan Real Proper or hope that Detonation will do a Steam Rip.

Anyway the game is not realy playable cause of bugs.

Global AI is silly, overall gameplay fun/teeth_grind balance is rather poor, story is more linear than a ruler, game length is about 6 hours long if you're good with planting headshots, hoarding zillions of medpacks and mashing quickload button a moment before getting fragged, faction wars is a fiction, and ending is confusing! Oh yeah, also bugs and crashes, even tho I didn't had many, only one crash and some minor physics freak outs.

In other words, stop beliving in Stalker, it's not going to get any better than this.

Lol, I was really expecting that one though... Looks like it's eventually more worth it to play the original Stalker with Oblivion Lost mod : solid gameplay, rare bugs, and HOURS of game !

Based on previews MP should be more or less the same but with a few more maps, game is primarily singleplayer so not that much new for multiplayer.

If you have the first patch installed you should notice four batch files in the bin directory, those are for launching a dedicated MP client and also reveals the gamemodes.

Artifact Hunt (Grab more artifacts than the other team.)
Capture the Artifact (Grab the enemy teams artifact, kinda like CTF.)
Deathmatch
Team Deathmatch

You can check the levels in the MP directory in the game folder but there's not that many new ones. (There's a few though and the patch added the Rembasa level whatever that is.)

Oh and I kinda figured the clone wouldn't work as the discs have a serial key embedded in them and it seems that key is dependant on the disc so if the disc differs from the original (Which it does if you burned it or ripped it into a image file.) then it won't launch.

I also keep hearing more and more negative things about the game, mostly bugs though but there are a few other annoyances as well such as levels promised like the Pripyat Underground. (It's not in the game based on the level folders.)

Levels: (Note, even if most are from Stalker they are probably heavily edited.)

"I dropped my lens somewhere around here"

Guys, can we please move on? This discussion is endless and doesn't even belong in this thread. There's a separate Protection section on this forum, and some of this may even be placed in Bitching Session.

Could we stop going off-topic? Back to the Clear Sky discussion again!

@ Boulotaur2024

for bugs there is steam in this case (online installation). them will be totally removed in the future. anyway this is not a good news. crackers maybe will are able only to crack just like GTR evo only the offline mode and not sure cause tages is not so easy like securom. if it in online use only steam there is not a fucked possibility to get something work

So no matter what protection the EU/US/RU versions use any group could just take the files from the weaker Safedisk protected Ukrainian version. Smile

Sounds good.
(I might have the game on pre-order but I prefer a nocd fix if available and possible, especially with stuff like that online SecuROM check and Star-Force.)

omfg, are you serious? lawl xD That's the most insecure protection ever!

Too bad it's been said already on the official forums that DRM will be present in the final game, although the name of the protection hasn't been given. Don't know if there's a safedisc + activation or something...?

I've got it preordered and quite frankly i'm not bothered which protection it'll use. Good thing the reviews are pretty positive about the game Smile Hopefully we'll get the scans soon, see what they've gotta say about the game.

ye always nice with positive reviews, but i dont feel like i care about the reviews to much, after all if you look at the first 1 it is the mods that make it sweet. as long as the game mechanic isnt broken the game will be kick ass with mods.

EU / USA release retail i think will use tages or securom for offline install and steam for online installation just like GTR evo or dark messiah. anyway i think that steam will be present into the image cause it go get anyway into steam to be downloaded. so crackers will make nothing to make a downloaded full game and for pirates only a crappy full buggy game will be out
