So what if he's been run over by a car and is in intensive care right now? How do you know for sure he's a scammer?

Well honesly, what can you do? Seriously. It happened. There's no way of getting him or getting some kind of money for it. So fuck it. In person you can smack him around some, drag him to the police and blergh. But that's about it. And also in person, to trust someone in person, a lot happens. Internets it's easier to trust peoples. Cause you use smiles, say nice things, compliment on stuffs, act llike you like the person, enjoy their sense of humor and poof, you got a best e-friend.  In person is tougher. You'd be more devastated in person. In e-nets... it happens all the dang time. He used people, people who trusted him, so what? It happened. It's done with. Ya'll gonna just insult him to feel better? Seriously, don't bring it up, let it go. If there's a way to get him, then go for it, and waste more time and money just get some kind of revenge that won't lead anywhere. I say let it go. Ban him. Remove him from here. Ditch his VIP. And continue filling the void with stuff that makes us lol and now think lots.

I agree it sucks. He was a good poster and i would have never expected anything shady. I however did qualify for the work but did not volunteer because i figured something like this would be the bottom line.

It`s just sad. Well - maybe it`s like pistol wrote somewhere and he got scammed himself and now doesn`t have the money to pay the guys...
Well - and I have to agree that it`s even worse if you know people personally. I have a karma... sersly. I got scammed by my roomie once - a month later he crashed with his bmw - his fault. 40000 € and lost his license for life.
A "mate" fucked my GF. his dad was missing a year later. found dead in a lake some month later.
Really - happens all the time. scares me when i think about it.
I am sure, he gets what he deserves.

Just to note, the mods haven't done anything because there is nothing we can really do. We can't prove either way if it was a scam or not (despite what people *think*) so we're powerless. If anyone wants to try and take legal action I'm sure the admin staff would be happy to give out connection information, but lets be realistic here, if you accept to help someone without a contract be prepared to be screwed. NEVER accept work without a contract in place, without provable contact information and certainly never submit all the work before payment.

Ya, but when someone tries to post a job over the net scam again some of us will remember VR and call them on it. At the least people will be more carefull.
Haha, the people scammed should try a class action suit on some court room tv drama show like "judge judy" or "Peoples court"

You know what sounded fishy to me. $25/hour. Way too much money to be paid considering that VR would have to be paid more than that. Highly suspect that one makes that much from translating online. Everybody would be doing it.

He even asked in VIP how much he has to pay for someone to do this. Check his thread again, he admitted having difficulties finding someone for the job, and that his offer wasn't legit enough to be posted on well known freelancer sites. It was obviously a scam.

You guys are acting are throwing out all possibilities just to call him a scammer. Even if he does, he's my hero.....just for the fact he got away with it if it was his intentions
What are you going to tell authorities, someone on a warez forum posted a fishy job and you fell for it?
