I did it on mine when I purchased my Elite System. I didn't feel like
waiting for M$ to send me the transfer cable. If I did wait and from what I understand I was going to lose all the content on the Elite's hard drive.
Use Xplorer360. You will have to take the drive out of the 360 protective cage and plug the drive into a SATA port on your computer.
Once Xplorer360 has a chance to access the drive just run a full backup. I don't remember where the acutal profiles are stored, I'm not at home to look up the information. Google should provide some help on this.
I do know that if you only backup the profiles themselves it is small enough to fit on a CDR. There will be one folder per profile. I had three on my system and copied them all. One profile per one CDR.
This reminded me that I need to back mine up again. The last time I waited and my 360 drive's crashed.
