buy a fucking ford puma or some vaxhaull/opel tigra 1.4 16v and you'll live
both are < or = than 1.6 and parts are everywhere and both have good mpg and kick

You could get a Mazda Miata. 
Rainbow sticker sold separately. I love mine tbh, plenty of power, reliable, lots of great guides for working on it. I've done everything on mine myself so far. No previous knowledge of cars other then oil changes.

The NSX is very much indeed a great sports car!
Even if it's 15 years old, it can outperform newer cars on track easily. Underpowered? Compared to what? Its very light instead, and has great weight distribution thanks to the mid-engine setup and great design.
276 hp on paper, since it was manufactured during Japans "gentlemans agreement" between manufacturers to not make cars with more than just 276 hp.
