here's why this release is valid:

"Q: Do I need to be on-line during patch installation?

A: Yes, you must be on-line throughout the installation process so
that your registration data can be verified. No private data is
taken from your computer during this process."

Their patch is protected with activation protection, When you buy
the original witcher, there's a serial number on the back of the
manual. With that, you have to register that game on the witcher's
website, and put in your name, adress, whatever other private data
they ask for. After registering, you run the patch which is
protected with activation and it checks your registration info and
serial. On top of that, the content is in parts all over the place
and on crappy clogged servers. In addition, if you read further
in that link, their free patch works half-ass on windows xp 64bit.
At least this release has all the content on 2 discs without
the need for supplying your serial number and your identification
to make an account, or deal with activation bullshit. Enjoy.
