The UK is November. Deep silver want to give the pc version at the same time as the console version, so they hold the pc version back.

Yep if the game doesn't do well in europe the developers themselves will be to blame, as people will simply pirate and when it finally gets released it'll be competing with Fallout 3 for peoples money.

Amazon says Sept 30 for the normal version, but I am interested in getting the CE version. CE will have better gfx and textures. I think CE version will be released in Europe.

I read it over in the official forums. In the CE version, you will be able to install better textures. You will be able to up the gfx quality one notch which will utilize more detailed textures. I saw some screen shots showing the difference. IT does look better (subtle difference), but requires some better hardware as well. You can tell the difference if you look at the rocks near the bottom of the screenshots but honestly don't know if it is worth it.

Seems to be true based on that forum link, also seems it'll be much more demanding than the "high" settings. (Following quote taken from a developer on the second page of that thread.)
Quote: |
Hello folks...
Ascaron has invested a lot to develope uncompressed data and textures to be able to be downgrade compatible with low spec PC´s and laptops. I believe a gamer shall not be pressed to buy or upgrade his/her rig to play a game. This shall make all gamers happy for STD and better PC´s !
Because it is possible to develop a even higher GFX set, I named it Elite GFX set, I asked my devs to do so. This shall make Sacred2 nicely playable for the next 4 years and Sacred2 can grow with the time and never will look outdated. If you can not use the Elite GFX now you may be able in the future.
Currently the Elite GFX is a goody for the CE version and not part of the STD edition. Later, if the requirement is there we can give it away for a small amount from our online shop.
No matter what GFX version you play...I hope you enjoy to play Sacred2.

Two replies above there's a note that the texture set takes up a whole DVD9 as it's around 8GB large.
EDIT: Post from another developer on page 3 mentions that this might also be a DLC later on, also has a few screens.

First the "optimized for notebooks" crap, then this ... wtf are they thinking ?
No, seriously ! Anway, you know what they say : "when in doubt, just pirate it !"
P.S.: I'll let the strange power metal fapping pass.

Epsilon wrote: | Apparently the Osiris looking creature is called "Temple guardian" thats the class that you can also play aside from the other classis which are "Seraphim, Shadow Warrior, High elf, Dryade, and Inquisitor" so 6 classes all in all.
Seraphim is the goody-two-shoes class of the game which uses otherworldly technology to defeat her enemies.
The Shadow Warrior is like the Dark Elf from the previous game, only now hes more tuned towards death and not poisons.
The High Elf is the Sorceress class like in Diablo 2.
The Dryade wields a bow and can summon/train creatures and mounts to help her in battles.
Then theres the Inquisitor which is the Necromancer class, he wields lightning from his fingertips and can manipulate death and the dying.
Not much is known about the Temple Guardian only that it's non humanoid and like the Seraphim, wields otherworldly technology and is presumeably evil, where the Seraphim is good, so there will be two polar opposite classes and then all the others are in between. I should also mention that the Temple Guardian has not been officially announced as it's supposed to be "secret" but as it can be seen in this music video it does indeed exist as beta testers claim.
I think this will be a great hack n slash game and will definitely buy it upon release. |
The Temple Guardian is a hybrid fighter / ranged with a built in weapon that uses t-energy.
Shadow Warrior is the a Pure Fighter with some necro like magic
Seraphim is just like in the first game (magic/fighter hybrid)
High Elf is just like the battle Mage from the first game
Dryad is a ranged/magic hybrid that uses nature magic.
Inquisitor is a melee/magic hybrid with death/lightning magic.
Seraphim and Inquisitor are the Good / Evil. everyone else is in between

Yes the Ce will have ultra gfx, but i can understand that.
quote from my self on the sacred 2 forum:
Quote: | And I can understand that they are not in the normal version as allot of ppl would whine just be cause they could not play it on max. |
and the dev respond to that:
Quote: | Exactly. It was my wish to create this GFX set and make it available to people who want this for their 4000 USD burners. In 2 years this becomes the STD maybe but not now.
The 97% with less performing PC´s we took a lot care of by making Sacred2 playing on low spec PC´s and Laptops. This was a challenge and we got a lot of support from Intel, AMD, ATI and N-Vidia. |
And an other psot by a dev:
Quote: | One reason why the Elite GFX are not in the STD is to not frustrate 97% of all gamers because they buy something they can not run with the system on hand.
It wasnt planned to release the Elite GFX at all. It was my decision to bring this to the 3% of people who are able to run the Elite GFX. The STD pack contain HigDetails and low Details.
The char f.e. is always Elite and to improve the texture loading speed the environment texture size is reduced for all other GFX sets.
Sacred2 has been developed for a wide range of PC´s and we are proud to specially took care of lower spec PC´s and notebooks.
Pls dont worry, if you need to survive we will make the Elite GFX available per DL.
My suggestion would be to just take the CE version with all the other goodies for just a few bucks more.
For us, Ascaron, its not a good deal because the additional cost for the goodies is higher than the margin for the higher price :=)
The CE is a fan edition with nice stuff and limited, never will be reproduced again

There is allot of talk about you're hd need to be in RAID 0 as there is allot of data needed to be transferred back and forth.
Quote: | PC for Elite GFX :
Its not only the GPU... The data transfer rate of the huge textures is the problem... 2 HDD in Raid 0 with min 7500 tpm, GPU with minimum 768 MB RAM...and fast RAM for the mainbrain...and a fast CPU. We had good XP with the DELL XPS 730 H2C. This rig runs the Elite GFX. This kind of PC specs are not wide installed.

That's just an excuse that people would whine. They did it to sell CEs and that's it.

Maybe the normal version of games should be PS2 ports and CE 360/PS3 from now on?
And indeed I'll pirate it.
