is it better than the original Korean version, I have to admite the original movie was kind of slow and it didn't scare a bit, imo it was one of the worst Korean horror movies I've seen, is this version that much better?

yes I think so. I have stated my hate for korean/jap horror in the past since I find it all cliched and samey.. this remake was the first remake that I thought great. It honestly did freak me out a few times, some genuinely un-nerving scenes.

yup, I recommend it. Not sure if the same scenes are 'close' but the bath scene with the girl was totally awesome + creepy.

and verrrrrrry detailed and graphical , hey what did you expect from the Director that shot "Haute Tension" and "The Hills Have Eyes- remake"
Quote: | My friends and I saw this movie last night and here's our interpretation of the plot and ending:
there are no 'demons': they're the spirits of the deceased in general (Although their number probably increased after the fire at the Mayflower). I think that certain people in our world, just like Anna Esseker, are viable 'hosts' or 'communicators' with the ghost world, insofar that these ghosts will attempt to enter them because they want to return to the real world. Maybe these are the ghosts of dead people who have not come to terms with the fact that they're actually dead.
But the thing is: once ghosts take over bodies over people who are alive, they can't handle being in this world anymore and they go haywire. Another explanation could be that too many ghosts want to enter the same host, leading the host to become 'schizo' (literally too many personalities).
So why do the ghosts then want to kill all of the people? Well, all of the ghosts knew that Anna was a viable host, so they wanted people to find her. The ones who disobeyed/fled (like the previous guard) got killed, so did the ones who tried to convince the guards (or others) to quit doing what they're doing ... that's why Ben's sister and family became targets - they tried to have Ben do something else.
Ben only became a target once all of those ghosts took over Anna's body: she went completely haywire - the ghosts cannot handle being in one and the same body. He had to experience their suffering (for example the fires) in order to become 'involved', or maybe just because they have a need to convey their pain. But he never was a target before the ending.
As Ben died, he entered the dead world, being a mirrored world. One possible line of thought would be that he too will desperately seek a way to get out (albeit in vain, as he's really dead), meaning that he too might 'find' a host to 'get back' (and maybe contact his family one more time, bla bla bla). |

to be honest the future looks bright for him. I loved hills have eyes aswel, he really knows how to get those 'unexpected' scares in mixed with believable extreme gore but still manages not to go over the top. That to me is hard to pull off, as a director he impressed me.

Uhh glad to finally see some positive feedback on Mirrors it has been critized by the reviwers apparently which definitely was worrying, since I loved Aje's Haute Tension & Hills Have Eyes.

I honestly stopped caring about reviews of any kind when dark knight got 'reviewed' into the top 3 films ever made on imdb.
Not that I gave them much credit beforehand anyway. I kinda stopped reading movie reviews after the first SAW movie came out and got hyped to buttfuck heaven and turned out to be shit. (IMO of course)
Each to his own in film, its a fact.

Horror movies are usually rated low, I can't even name three with great ratings. The 'problem' is that not many people like horror, yet rate them and/or comment about them anyway.

but even if you look on sites like BD these days the reviews are gash, they are so so so biased toward specific directors/genres and everything outside is *pretentious* or *trying too hard*
People are so fucking scared of innovation and breaking mold within the horror genre, THAT is the problem. Im sick of fucking zombie movies and crappo jap long haired girls making awkward noises.

If thats what people think - then thats what it is.
The critics praise the swedish director Ingmar Bergman to the skies...do I think he's good? Let's put it this way, I'd rather chew of my own leg than watch any of his movies.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

I just found it hilarious that a batman film gets rated higher than say Pans Labrynth, Donnie Darko, Shawshank, fight club etc.

X - Files 2, I Want to Believe: 2/10.
I don`t want to believe i`ve watched this crap. Its a serious downfall compared the previous movie and the tv show itself. It has a bad story compared to what we watched at X Files show, no conspirations of any kind, an overall bad performances and a low sophisticated storyline... actualy, it has to many glitches and unconnected guides. bad bad bad resurrection of a previous loved story.

the whole movie was a failure WHY , in the comic book he kills Nazi super heroes and hunts down a Cannibal master mind .
Quote: | Walk into a major bookstore these days and you'll probably see a TV playing clips from Wanted, which opens today. Nearby, you'll see a collection of Wanted, a six-issue comic book published in 2004.
But what's in those pages is very different from what's on the screen. Both stories begin with a woman named Fox recruiting a cubicle jockey named Wesley Gibson to take his father's place in a secret society called the Fraternity. The tales diverge from there.
And that's fine. The producers of this very violent but funny movie had several reasons for not doing a word-for-word adaptation:
1. It would have been too expensive. By changing the Fraternity from supervillains to assassins, the producers saved a heck of a lot of money on costumes and makeup. Instead, they shelled out for cool effects and stunts.
2. It's a comic book about comic books. The original Wanted satirizes everything from Adam West's Batman to DC Comics' Crisis on Infinite Earths. Just about everyone in it is based on a DC character, including representations of Bizarro and Clayface whose names are too vulgar for us to print. The movie has no trace of these references.
3. A movie needs a good guy. Even though he's an assassin, the movie version of Wesley has a moral basis for his actions. You can root for him. But in the comics, he robs, rapes and kills innocent people without a second thought. And his enemy – Mr. Rictus, an amalgam of the Joker and the Red Skull – is even worse: He's a cannibal.
So why read Wanted? I was asking myself that as I slogged through all the sex and violence. Then I read the last two pages, which really threw me for a loop, but in a good way. Of course, that's just me. In the end, you may find it to be just a big pain. |

So the movie is a complete failure because it does not follow the novel one on one? Okay.

Just read the novels... Damn if they have actually made a proper adaption the film would have been so much better.

Death Race 7.5/10 VERY ENJOYABLE!!! Not mind-altering, but pop-corn flick fun. I am sure there will be an unrated version with more gore.
College 2/10 I can't think of a single person who likes to see someone drink tequila filtered through a hairy ass crack! That was a scripted event and I want it erased from my mind! Nudity was worth 2 points!
Can anybody recommend a good thriller? Something like " The Strangers", but good. Thanks. Also, prefer english. I have nothing against subtitles, but I think it would detract from the experience. If that's the case, just recommend the book!
