Deelix was asking me for good TV Series and I mentioned the sopranos and I hadn't seen it in quite a while. Used to watch it on A&E when they did reruns since I didn't have HBO.

Anywho I just bought the whole box set. Cost me close to 300. WalMart didn't have the early sets so I got 5, 6.1 and 6.2 and the rest are coming in the mail. Sucks starting on season 5 but god it's good ot watch it again.

Never thought it was funny or exciting but something about the show is so damn compelling that I could watch it all night.

I followed it for a couple of season, three I guess, but it got a bit boring/tedious. I'm a big Maffia movie fan, but there was something wrong with the Sopranos. I can't put my finger on it. And the Tony Soprano character was really irritating I thought, I don't get all the love for this character. There were much, much better characters on the show.

As most other shows it gets way too dragged.

First couple of seasons were okay. Rest is shite, imo.

I loved the sopranos because it showed how the mafia has not disappeared but is trying to survive by muscling-in on legal businesses. Also liked the characters, well not the characters themselves but how different and desperate they were. As for liking them, well I thoroughly enjoyed when a slimeball (any one of them all because that's what they all were) got whacked. Twisted Evil

Didn't like the ending and I can't change the way I feel about that. Liked even less the fanboi explanation of how 'masterful' the ending was. Yes go ahead and think that I belong to the simplistic crowd that likes everything to be spelled out for them. Although I personally think that when you tell a story you should finish it and not leave the audience hanging with a 'make up your own' crappy ending. And honestly, I couldn't have cared one way or the other what happened to Tony because I know that in real life the bad guys don't always get their comeuppance. And even if they do, others take their place.

I never really watched sopranos. I caught it a few times on re-runs when it aired in the UK, some did seem a good watch but I was always too busy with other stuff to see it. Il have to grab season 1 sometime and give it a watch Smile

i really like the sopranos, but at its heart its just another mediocre show storywise. There are some great episodes, but most of it just so so on the story-front imho. What makes it stand out are the great characters / actors in it. At least thats what made me watch the show till the end.

You want a great mafia show? Watch Underbelly. It's an Australian show based on true events, and it's great.

The Sopranos was my favourite TV series ever! Think i only ever missed 3 episodes in the seven years that it was broadcasted.. dam work. was so gutted when the last episode aired. The 'fade to black' shit was a load of crap.

It would be good if they made a series about the new york familly and tied it in to the sopranos.
