# Publisher:Paradox
# Developer: Quazar studios
# Genre: Strategy
# Release date: Out now(gamersgate)
# Story/Description:
The space action game Dark Horizon takes place in a breathtaking atmospheric universe with an epic storyline about the fight for survival.
In this world you can choose play as the mysterious race “Guardians”, among others, through 22 missions of space combats to save the humanity from the all-destroying hazard, the Mirk. Use the help of your allies: other Guardians will fight side by side with you, and biomechanical race bios will assist you with their high-tech devices and weapons.
You cannot only modify your ships and weapons. Throughout your challenging space missions you can gather resources that can be used to create your own equipment and weapons between the missions.
The new modes also allow you to decide between moving invisible through enemy lines, which results in weaker attacks or you can choose a stronger attack mode that weakens your shields.

* Fight in team with other pilots trough fierce battles, give orders and use tactics to take out your enemies (please note – no multiplayer!)
* Choose between two different modes that will change your fighter’s performance according to your own demands: ‘shadow’ mode to stealth through enemy lines (yet it prevents using full power of your weapons) and ‘corter‘ mode that will level up the power of you guns at a cost of energy-usage that weakens your shields.

You mean by Chris Roberts then?
Wing Commander was one of my all time favorite games, the life on the carrier, the bar after the missions, the black board with the pilots socre kills, the personality of the wingman that reflected on the flying styles, the briefing and the debriefing, the truely dynamic campaign. Wow great memories indeed. Sad

Its sad that with all the resources and graphic/cpu power these days, no one can make games with this kind of heart.

Well, i saw "from the wing commander creators" in a Spanish site (in the video link above) but i think; if Chris Roberts was envolved, Paradox or Quazar studio scream that. It must be something like movie products when they say; "from the creators of..." and the reality is that only the "cofee guy" was working in it.

Yep Very Happy

T6chikom6 : Done that, great game on its own, but too much on rails to be a real match for a foe like WC, IMO. There was this russian space flight sim that could have bem very close (story and carrier wise), but i only could find it on russian and spanish. Mad Guess it was called homeplanet.

I vistited Ag.ru to see information and there are a standalone expansion titled Homeplanet: Playing with fire(or play with fire)... scored 83%
http://www.ag.ru/reviews/homeplanet_playing_with_fire

EDIT: it really is the same engine..... Tarrs engine is good but the gameplay kinda sucks. let's hope it's not the same case here also

True, true..i played tarr and even tried to like it..but..no dice..played too many great space opera games for being able to do that..

In a note Starlancer(this one was chris roberts too) was good too imo, but not on par to WC

-Seamless universe
-Inertial system(newtonian physics)ala I-war 2/No inertial ala freeklancer, x3, x-wing, WC
-Explorable planets
-Control schemes: keyboard, joystick, mouse, mouse(freelancer).
-Cockpit with interactive screens.
-Multiplayer

This kind of games lack in one or other aspect but this game owns all the features i want...

Seems joysticks are bugged, need to be configured through the joystick software.

Very annoying, but looks like a cool game from the few missions I've played.

Could you stop naming other games and talk about this one? What is it? An old game re-released with another name? Is it any good?

They fucked themselves with the lack of Joystick support, pretty stupid for a space combat game to make such a big mistake tbh.

Here's the thread on the official site :

joystick? who owns something like that nowadays?
but i suppose it wouldn't have been to hard to be implemented. maybe with a patch? who knows. it's been a long while since i played anything with a joystick. i believe it was wing commander 4 or something from that time Smile
anybody played it yet? is it fun?
