.these mods you mention used to be freely available to download without buying anything so im not sure how buying the game supports people making mods for free? i know it sure supports more companies adopting this type of copy protection, tho. also best game ever made? thats an opinion, buddy. i think the story is shit and i got bored of it after the 100th or so headcrab encounter. anyways dont preach to ppl, either they will buy it or they wont, end of story.

Uhh you had to buy the original Half Life to play those mods...they werent freely playable by anyone. CSS and DoD Source were bought up by Valve, its their property now. They upgraded both mods with new graphics and engine, you think you should get this for free? Idiot. Most mods will be multiplayer online gameplay. If you use the Vengeance release you wont be able to play the new mods online.

And yes I do hope more companies use this kind of copy protection. I dont whine and moan because copy protection gets more strict. They have every right to try and protect their property, and people will forever try and break it.

If you didnt like Half Life 2, you are in the extreme minority. If you don't like FPS games why would you even try HL2? Because I find it hard to believe anyone that likes FPS games would not like HL2.

The emporio release works fine, but you just gotta use a different combination of bin folder files.

The mods have been here and said they where leaving it open for now.

There have been a few games in the past that ran better cracked because of crappy copy protection slowing it down. I have no idea if that is the case with HL2.

If this cracked installer (Vegeance's) would be applied to Emporio's release which already have installed to computer, is it going to be worked?

I mean Vengeance said, their hl2install.exe will doing all necessary cracks after install of their retail release.

I'm just curious whether it will working or not to already-installed Emporio's release.

Does anybody tried?

I'm going to try this way if i get Vegeance's.

runs better than emporio or bought retail for me and another person i know. first, having 30,000 files is not good because of fragmentation mostly (emporio/retail releases), so this version is better in that respect. also, this release has its own pimped out steam engine (emulation) which means you don't have to go through crappy valve steam which the retail does...

Final verdict:

Ran better than any other release i've tried (AHU, AXPI, EMPORIO, RETAIL) and without ANY problems at all! Now get it and stop browsing the forum...

So, how many samples did you use, and how much faster was the vengeance version?

we just set the exact same settings as we did for emporio and retail. it wasn't extensive but just for our own observations and decisions. vengeance ran an average of 5fps higher than the other two. we used a certain save point where freeman has to fight many many combine soldiers in an enclosed area.

nfo states that it doesnt extract the gcf files (like it's supposed to), but plays right out of them. This is why they made the comment about not having to extract 30,000 files.

The files installed on your hard drive are the gcf's, same as retail. Both play out of these. I don't see whats so fucking hard to understand.

Because a top "group" got beaten bby small n00bs groups and AXpi's version is 1.6 gigs Razz instead of 4 gigs

I bought the retail and played thru once. I downloaded this and played some and it runs better than the retail.
For shits and giggles I reinstalled the retail I bought, used the installer on cd5 and the same result. I wish I would have known that and I would not have waisted my time getting all 5 cd's. The 5th one is all I needed.
The load time is a tad better and the hicups are not as bad as before. Also don't have to deal with all the crap from Steam.

Edit::This only worked for a short while and now it won't let me play with out a steam account. Not sure what happened. I tried to run the installer again but that does no good either. It still ran better than retail so I will install all 5 cd's this time. Sorry if I jumped too soon.
