|
 |
well...as usual the treditional line and as usual pikachupi open it early a bit lol but...witch game do you think will take the race this year?
we had few goodies during this year-farcry was good but was too big for me-i found my self manytimes walking in the islands with nothing special to do-maps are to big with no reason.(my opinion)
doom3 looked very good but after few monsters the game repeats.
and half life 2 finaly came out(can you belive? lol) and for me hl2 gave the best expirience this year altough i expected more from hl2 - its still the king for me.
and the oscar from me goes to gabe after all;)

Half life 2 for me. 2nd would be rome total war or warhammer 40k. some decent games out this year such as heroes of ww2 and UT which too deserve some props. however i see this being pretty 4 sided between Doom rome hl2 and farcry.

Rome Total War for me. Although HL2 was pretty good too, and GTA: San Andreas.

Far Cry, no question. You could almost get lost in those maps, different routes and different ways of doing things and an awesome engine.
Doom 3 was dull and repetitive, San Andreas was console-bound and HL2? No story to speak of and the linearality was overwhelming. True immersion is impossible when dead-ends are so short that you can't sneak up behind enemies and you get the feeling that you are being led down one single long convoluted passage. I'm not sure that's what FPS's should be about.
My guess is that the inferior HL2 gets it. Hype rulez.

Far cry - the most complete game this year. It had next gen graphics 6 months before hl2 and doom3 were out.. and until now I'd say they beat the other 2!

Lol, so yeah huge areas you can approach different settings from different angles and yeah the engine is awesome, but the story is very weak. Not only that, but it doesn´t have any type of revolutionary gameplay, it´s a shooter with huge open area´s. That´s it, it could have been better, if they just did it like STALKER and gave it something extra it would have been alot better. Sure, you have alot more freedom in FC than in HL2 and the game is not linear i agree but to have a gripping story in a game some form of line is needed that the game has to follow, and i think that line in HL2 is very flexible. Not only that but HL2 is revolutionary, with broad gameplay which is much more diverse than any other shooter released to date. Every hour you play HL2 you get to see something completley new, i´ve never experienced such a thing in any type of shooter and not in FC. That is why i think FC is inferior by large steps compared to HL2, but yeah everyone has his own way of thinking, and i respect your opinion, my 2 cents.

Half Life 2 or World Of Warcraft would be my guess and GTA:SA or Metal Gear Solid 3 for the console.

alright, Far Crys story was weak compared to HL2s, but HL2 was not that revolutionary, apart from implementing the havok (physics) engine in a really thought-through way. the story was cool, but left a lot open (wtf happened in the end??? and who believes a PhD to be the "messiah-rambo"?), the graphics were good, but FC and Doom 3 has already set the new standards. And even HL2 had its repetetive moments, making the game appear longer than it was.
so in terms of innovation and being the first and all i'd go with Far Cry for GOTY.

Half life 2, because of the total "blow out of the door" experience. It felt really new too me with the physics, some graphic elements and the gameplay. Stalker may put down HL2 after watching some movies. It feels so free somehow. That's how I like it, no limits and no linear stories. Don't know about San Andreas as I don't have a PS2.

I would say FarCry. HL2 was good but way to easy. To few challenging fights. Also too linear gameplay.

HL2 for me, followed by ROME Total War.
It was the first game that actually felt good playing (For me anyway).
Farcry was good, but it just felt empty.
The gameplay was standard at best and the story had been similar to MANY older games.
I really cant see it being GOTY.
Doom3...lets just say i hated that 'techdemo', and i would be pretty dissapointed if that got 'game' of the year.
AMD64 3800+, Leadtek 6800 Ultra, 1GB Kingston HyperX RAM, SB Audigy 2Zs.

half life 2! Cant see anything beating it because of so many fine details used, especially the animation of the people is awesome.
