don''t remember the exact link but it was remedy/alan wake forums
it was a female remedy employee announcing the delay and that they're working on it
she said that they're starting the game from scratch
she said that they're starting the game from scratch
I remember what you're talking about.
And from scratch...!?!
Well, in that case we won't see the game in the next 2 or 3 years.
And if from scratch they also mean building a completely new engine -> 6-7 years....

I have been browsing the official forums and the official news-site (brightfalls), however there is no word of this anywhere. No stickies, no news posts.
So until I see some verification, I will assume you have been smoking some serious stuff.

but of course they're not gonna mention that amount of time , they're gonna release it next year each year if you know what I mean
you know the trick , kinda something like this :
well i couldn't find the expression so the pic will do

she said that they're building it from scratch again
there was a link to those forums I'm gonna see if I can find it
they just hired some new ppl to work on it, and yes its far from finished. inside guy said theyre hoping to rls it next summer but more likely closer to christmas.
We feel we owe you all a small heads up, and our apologies for lack of updates. This is just part of our psychological thriller, is it all real or imagined...
Seriously, yes, we're still here and working hard on getting Alan Wake for you to enjoy. Sure, we've been in development for a long time and if everything had gone perfectly smoothly there probably would be a game out for you guys to play already. But designing a completely new game can be hard, and sometimes you need to take a detour to find the best route forward.
We want to entertain you guys in the best possible way and our team is putting in every effort possible in order for that to happen. That is the way Remedy wants to do things. I'm sure you will enjoy Alan Wake when we're done.
Development taking forever? Take your heads out from your asses already. 4-5 years of development is pretty much the norm nowadays, and besides, Remedy has (had till this spring?) very small development team (35-ish people) so the costs are much smaller than with most triple-A titles.

the ones who should take their heads out of their asses are remedy...why use such a small development team for such a big project? the longer it takes, the more problems they get...outdated gfx, pressure from the publishers, the hype wears off etc pp
this game keeps lookin better and better
but i'm willing to bet that it'll need a better rigg than one for Crysis
I seriously doubt that because Remedy´s older games ran fine with slower machines so I thing they know how to optimize.. I thing originally they said it will run best with quadcore but would run even with P4 3.0 ht as minimum. of course that was a long time ago but I think it will look good even on mediocre PC-

Bigger team != better product, faster delivery.
Remedy's way of developing games has worked with their previous titles, so clearly they are doing something right. They went a quite bit into detail in their reasoning for keeping the team small in an interview a few years back.
And besides, the problems with this development haven't probably even stemmed from Remedy if I am guessing right... *cough*Microsoft*splutter*outsourcing*coughcough*...

you can also add this will be a DX10 only title working only in Vista , thats why it takes so much time because they are making 2 versions of this game - one for Vista in dx10 only and one for x360 in dx9
this is kinda gay that they will not add dx9 , but yeah after Microsoft Game Studios got they hands on it and specially closed Ensemble studios to finish this product you ... we will see
Alan Wake is a video game being developed by Remedy Entertainment, the Finnish company behind the Max Payne games. Alan Wake is billed as a "psychological action thriller". Microsoft Game Studios is the publisher of the game.
-------------------------------------
THE STORY:
Alan Wake is a bestselling horror writer. Early on in his career, his fiancée Alice, was his muse. Just prior to meeting her, he had started to have strange dreams which he used as material for his first book. The book was a big success, a dream come true. But then Wake's fiancée vanished without a trace. Wake was devastated. He couldn't write anymore, his dreams stopped and he began to suffer from insomnia. At the beginning of the game, Wake travels to a sleep clinic to seek treatment for his condition. The secluded clinic is located near the small town of Bright Falls, Washington, far away from the stressful urban lifestyle. Receiving treatment at the clinic, Wake is able to sleep again. At the clinic, he meets a mysterious woman who is the very image of his missing fiancée, uncannily so. At once, his dreams return, this time as terrible nightmares. Wake begins to write again: a new book based on those nightmares. But something is horribly, horribly wrong. Impossibly, the town of Bright Falls starts to change to something awful that bears a close resemblance to Wake's new book. Wake ends up fighting for his life with a gun and a flashlight in his hands, trying to understand what's happening.
-------------------------------------
GAMEPLAY:
The name "Bright Falls" has a meaning. The game promises to have photo-realistic graphic qualities, realistic pixel shading, and dynamic shadows that change according to the position of the sun. To avoid lags and hangs, the game will benefit from a high end PC and the Xbox 360.
The dark-forces (enemies) coming to 'take care of' Alan Wake are vulnerable to light. So the most useful weapon of all is actually the flashlight. You will be able to place booby traps which will illuminate when executed, etc. Light will weaken or hurt Wake's enemies, and creatively taking advantage of any and all light sources within Alan Wake's grim world ought to be one of the interesting aspects of play.
Like Max Payne before it, the title Alan Wake has a double meaning. Combining the main character's first initial with his last name forms "A.Wake," or "Awake".
Remedy Entertainment also promised a free-roam 3-dimensional city, similarly as in the Grand Theft Auto series.
"The basic idea with the free-roaming world is that we give the player goals, and then the player can go about achieving those goals in the way he chooses. Alan Wake is more tightly character-driven and story-oriented. Meaning that the player's goals and missions are closely focused around Alan Wake and his story. Also, the setting, the tone and the game being an action thriller all set it clearly apart from the GTA games." -- Sam Lake
"Intense cinematic action is something that we love to do, and Alan Wake features tense combat gameplay as well, but all things considered the game has a lot more emphasis on adventure and exploration than what Max Payne did. Driving is an integral part of the game" - Petri Järvilehto.
There will be no multiplayer in this game. "We'd much rather give the players a great single-player game, than a mediocre single and multiplayer game." -Petri Järvilehto.
To be shown in a demo at GDC 2009. This is a small clip from actual gameplay of Alan Wake. More to come later this week. The is running on a Xbox 360 test kit. (This is 1st person view) I will be posting 3rd person stuff soon.
Well I know what I saw and it's not any game I've ever seen so what the hell is it? Maybe they are saying that because it leaked and that could ruin their exclusive at GDC.
