no ,internet was off during installation:
so how to apply the Vengeance crack?
anyone got it working without installing to default C:/... Folder?
once again to get this clear:
- i mounted the isos starting with iso 1
- valve installer popped up
- i installed steam: fine
- i installed hl2 changing the directory to G:/Half Life 2 : fine
- installation succesfull, steam window popped up, which i closed
-looked in Vengeance folder on cd5 , double clicked hl2install.exe : NOTHING!
any idea?

then install again with internet connection on or download: Half-Life 2 *Retail* Offline Installer (c) Valve.

well little confused now:
do i need a steam account for the VENGEANCE release?
i want to install offline .
Half-Life 2 *Retail* Offline Installer (c) Valve - VENGEANCE
isnt this the same files that are on cd 5 from
Half-Life 2 (c) Valve *RETAIL* VENGEANCE
?

no, cd5 does not contain Half-Life 2 *Retail* Offline Installer (c) Valve - VENGEANCE, it does contain online installer. You must dl offline installer separetely.

Since there's an "offline installer " released.. why do the first VENGEANCE release require internet? Does it connect to valve? In that case, why and what info gets transferred?
MaddoxX: You made a DVD with recreated cabs, but didnt release it? yeah right..

i downloaded Half-Life_2_Retail_Offline_Installer-VENGEANCE
its exactly the same files as on cd5 of Half-Life_2_Retail - VENGEANCE
once again:
whats the proper way to install the VENGEANCE release?
do i need a steam account?

Why would I do it if nobody appreciates our work, and if I made pics ofcourse nobody would believe it :/

I think its easy to make a custom dvd out of this Vengeance release ,just open hl2.msi with an hexeditor and change hl2_2 ,hl2_3 ,hl2_4 ,hl2_5 ,strings all to hl2_1 ,then copy all the files to one map .and then it should work haven't time to test it now but will tonight.

Emporio release was cool but not perfect ,next time Emporio should create custom installer and release as an pc rip game instead of iso release.

You even got greetz in nfo's.. People have used your release to find cheats and make trainers.. You had more than 1000 people in chan..

Most people appreciate your release, but it's emporio<vengeance because of the simple fact it's the only legit scene release. And of course the 300 000 fragmented files they mentioned.
If you made almost the same release as vengeance with original installer (except cds, dvds better) you'd be plain stupid if you didnt release it.
Needless to say, emporio had a great and early hl2 release, keep up the good work

The original installer does work as long as your Online and let steam finish updating. Could steam not somehow disable this cracked version during the updating Steam platform process? Now I have to find/dwnload the offline installer somewhere just incase Steam does figure that out so I can still install it if the future.

what do you mean by copying all the files to one map? |
I mean by that that you must copy all the files from cd1 cd2 cd3 cd4 cd5 to c:\HL2_1 <--=dvd map.
then first check if it installs without any errors after that you can fire up Nero and burn all the files to an dvd .also label the dvd HL2_1 .

allright finally got it:
you NEED a steam account!
1. install using autoinstall from the 5 isos.
if it ask u about making desktop shortcuts say no.
2. when its finished , steam window will open, go online and make a steam account. (create new account or log in to an existing account)
3. after u registered, steam will install some stuff and when its finished, double click hl2install.exe in Vengeance folder on cd5.
4. u can now play online using the hl2 desktop shortcut, which the hl2install.exe Vengeance crack created in step 4.
i which Vengeance would have written in nfo that u have to be online and need a steam account

You don't need a Steam account. After installing everything from the five CD's, Steam wil update it's platform then prompt you to Create a new account or login with an existing one, you can cancel at that point and run the hl2install.exe patch. That's the way I installed it. And of course I didn't install it into my already existing Steam location. Done

at the end of cd4 i did got a error,
could not create hl2.ico or something like that.
someone knows what to do?

u need 2 install cs:s too otherwise u get that error

I thought the point of the files on CD 5 of the VNG rls was that you DIDN'T have to go online...

That sounds more like it. It would be dumb to realease a version that could be disabled by Valve through Steam.
