here is another complaint against piracy:
from Grin the makers of bionic commando
Quote: | "The PC is always a slippery slope because of piracy, stuff like sorting out DRM, making sure we don't have too little or too much. But also because we want to make sure it doesn't feel like a port, so we can add a little extra polish to the PC version."

the game Delay in all versions to 2009,but it seems they are considering
to Delay even more the PC version too.
http://kotaku.com/5060930/bionic-commando-delayed-coming-early-2009
no just that,
from the last trailer of the new Prince Of Persia, only the 360 and PS3 are mention,
but it still appear on coming soon on Steam and online Stores like Amazon and gamestop
another Delay because of Piracy? | Yeah, piracy is making them delay their shitty games.
I'd say that most people in here couldn't care less if those two games get delayed ( well, the new Bionic Commando maybe, but that sad excuse for a PoP game... ) |
and how do you know that they are shitty games.
without even playing them?
FAIL

without even playing them? | Awesome stuff like this: Quote: | The second of the prince's new abilities is actually a person, not a weapon. Elika is a major character in the story, and she travels with the prince at all times. Don't mistake this for a dumb AI partner or an annoying escort mission, though, because she's quite possibly the best partner a hero could ask for. For one thing, she never gets in the way; if she's ever standing in the prince's way, she'll simply do a skillful acrobatic maneuver to clear a path. She's as athletic as the prince, so anywhere he can get to, she can too. She's functionally immune to damage, so you also don't have to worry about watching her health.
It gets even better! She also has powerful magical abilities that can be used in a number of ways to improve the prince's acrobatics. By teleporting and tossing the prince in mid-air, he can perform a double-jump to reach inaccessible gaps. Likewise, she can power Rebound Pads to allow the duo to jump super-long distances in a single bound. Perhaps the most useful ability we saw in the demo was one that gamers are sure to appreciate: Elika makes it so that you will never die. Whenever the prince enters a fatal situation — be it a misstep off a cliff, touching a pool of Corruption, or simply falling on an enemy's blade — Elika will instantly save him. Think of her like a sentient version of the Sands of Time. |

Nah, maybe you should learn that downloading isn't stealing.
Lets try to put it in terms you can understand: Lets say i have a magical machine, this machine allows me to duplicate/copy anything i scan in the machine.
Well lets say it down to my local car dealer, and i scan in a car that i really like, i leave the car dealer and i use the machine to copy the car i scanned in, i now got myself a car exactly duplicate to the one at the car dealer.
Have i stolen anything? No.
Does the car dealer lose his ability to sell the car? No.
Does the car dealer suffer a loss as direct consequence of my copy? No.
Now lets say i STEAL the car dealers car instead, i break in, probably breaking down some doors, i break into the car and drive it out.
Have i stolen anything? Yes i stole a car.
Does the car dealer lose his ability to sell the car? Yes, he no longer has the car, because i stole it.
Does the car dealer suffer a loss as direct consequence of my theft? Yes, though some loss may be projected over to the car manufactorer, and/or insurance companies, i still incurred a loss.
Note: I'm not saying that piracy isn't hurting, but i'm saying that copying is NOT stealing, and copies cannot be directly translated as a loss, there are obviously people who copy games that they would buy if they couldn't copy it.

oh don't remind me what and awful smelly buggy port that pos was
Ubisoft just cba making games for PC anymore and they want to focus on stuff that makes more money
Piracy is inevitable and we're all part of it , justification isn't worth a shit
if you feel bad, don't ever pirate anything and get bankrupt buying software
if it doesn't hurt you , then pirate all the shit you want , no need for justification
Retract...err...Npiracy , please stfu & gtfo , your point is already known and you just don't get that you're not changing jackshit but I guess you're enjoying your trolling

Good games sell, bad don't. Take call of duty 4 for example.
CoD4=good seller EVEN on the PC.
So ubisoft has to start thinking of making better games, games that are worth the money, which a single player game with 10 hours playtime isnt going to accomplish.
Why would i buy a game for 50 euros if i can finish it within 10 hours?
CoD4=multiplayer which i already spent more than 100 hours on.
Ubisoft developing Brothers in Arms HH for over two years now, it finally came out, but i wasnt that suprised. I mean talking about time=money. About wasting money.
The game adds nothing new exept for the graphics which are outdated anyway now.

Second of all, it IS a crime, it IS illegal, it IS stealing, BUT WE ARENT SUPPOSED TO GIVE A FUCK, we are pirates ffs!
And dont give me that crap about "i buy good games, good developers need money ballaabalalalbala"
Theres thousands of stupid fucks in AMERICA ( ) that buy a copy for each one of us who pirates it so they get their cash anyway, quit your fucking bitching enjoy your free shit, Ubisoft suck balls and this post is done.
The end.
edit: theyre right about the console thing be cause to be honest there are millions up
on millions of console tards who buy every single game that comes out for the sake of it.
Pc gamers tend to have a bit more brains |
its not the "Skull and Bones" but the "Jolly Rogers"
"Skull and Bones" is something Bush enjoyed ...

i didnt read most of the replies, but i just want to add that no matter what DRM, making games exclusive on console, or simply quit making games, it doesnt itch me one bit.
The amount of good games released the past years has gone down alot, so much money and workhours are spend on graphics, making production costs very high, cause its difficult to even find artists that are limited by the quality of the current hardware instead of the other way around.
Its not like they are running out of ideas, they simply stick with what is less risky to sell ( aka all the sequels ) instead of trying something totally different, can you imagine non casual games comming out today? something like Snatcher?
Look at the overwhelming success of Mega Man 9, NES graphics/sound ( i love synth music ) and quite difficult as were all the jump n runs back then, yet people love it and i dont hear anyone complain its too hard, not just that, its cheap compared to todays games.
I wrote the above to come to the point that the way the game industry is going now cant continue, the costs are going up exponentially, too many bugs and what not.
We have to go back to basics, look how good 2D can look on the DS and thats even lower resolution than the SNES, i bet red alert 2 could look amazing too in 2D, actually the game play could be 100% the same.
Im tired of 8GB games filled with no value, i cant play crysis or warhead even if i wanted too, it doesnt look that good to me, and the gameplay is nothing compared to games like COD4 ( which i did buy without hesitating ).
If ubisoft decides to not release a single PC game anymore so be it, or if no games were released on PC at all so be it too, same goes for movies or music, i can do without.
Last 2 years i played more games released in the 80s/90s than the ones release from after 2000. Companies need to realize we want games, not simulations.

pretty sure i ended this thread yesterday
Why the fuck are people still going on about the same shit i talked about in one post
get over it
piracy = nforce = win = no need to discuss
ubisoft = fail
Oh and Glotis, I do buy games, I dont care if I have to pay for one once in a while for multiplayer/cdkey. Thats usually the only time I bother. Unless a game comes out that really really really looks interesting to me (bioshock did) and doesnt leak before rlease (I got it on steam on release day)

+1 to that. Too bad they can't be arsed to make games that provide you with so much quality and content you can play a game for so long.
It's the industries aim to make games that last max of 30 hours, otherwise you wouldn't be playing or buying anything else... Cunts!
If there wouldn't be such a thing as piracy there would be alot more games that have 0 content tbh...
If you don't produce a quality game its GONNA get warezd. Period.
Quality games get quality sales.

@ Stefan F
Well i like simulations, good simulations, not the late crap.
If you like arcades more you got excelent emulators out there, or consoles, or bionic commando rearmed.

I don't really care what ubisoft thinks anymore.
I buy games that i know will be good.
This month im buying far cry 2 and dead space on pc and little big planet on ps3.
Every month i see xbox360/wii games on torrents or ngs way before their release dates and wonder why the devs are so adamant there is no piracy on consoles.
I love single player games mostly so i need a damn good sp story and campaign to make me buy it.
The only multiplayer games i play are mmos. Recently im playing Warhammer online. I finally think ive found the mmo i'll be playing for the next few years its so damn good.
I pirate some games i wouldnt even dream of buying. Some surpirse me and i end up buying them others i never play again.
It all comes down to trust. I dont trust any developer/publisher to bring out a good game now well apart from blizzard, relic and stardock:)
Support for the games i buy are so poor now i dunno why i buy some of their games in the first place. They dont deserve it. Ubisoft is one of these companies and so is atari.
I have a stack of bought pc games next to my pc plus all the 2nd hand and new ps3 games i buy. Its not as if i dont buy games its just im alot more picky now especially when we hardly get demos on pc anymore.

My thoughts after reading the first page of this thread
About piracy killing PC gaming, that my not be that bad:
No pc games, no more DirectX, no more need for Windows, anyone can use other OS's, no more M$ monopoly.
No pc games, no need to the latest video cards, no more upgrading every 6 months, no more ATI or nVidia monopoly.
No more upgrades, people can save money and buy consoles.
With only console market, crackers and hackers will turn to crack and hack consoles, piracy on consoles will grow, maybe then developers turn to PC exclusives...
This is a neverending situation, piracy will always exists, and publishers will always have someone to blame .

Console market doesn't grow because of pc piracy (or the other way around).
Console market grows because of better and more accessible consoles (HD/BD players included etc) its the perfect "instead of" tool. Plus you can buy games on it lol.
i don't own a console by the way, but that's what i know from many friends i know of who have consoles (some have 3-4 consoles at home , plugged ...).
