Well i managed to burn it, went with 1x burn speed instead of my normal 2-2.4x.

I'm loving it sooo much. And that's actually saying a lot because i was seriously sceptical going in (the whole original-fallout-fanboy-who-was-burned-by-bethesda-with-oblivion-and-wanted-an-isometric-view-fallout-with-fancy-graphics thingy... yeah) but this is seriously good stuff.

I have to say two things that sort of contradict eachother. It's not Fallout because obviously Fallout never was a FPS/RPG game. But at the same time this certainly IS Fallout because, as far as I've gotten at least, Bethesda has really captured the whole Fallout feeling and atmosphere.

I could keep on writing so much that I'm liking so far but I just cba, it's too late etc. But to sum it up:

Great graphics, great atmosphere and acceptable gameplay-mechanics. If this was a brand new franchise without the burden of the Fallout-legacy people would be praising it from left to right I'm quite certain of that.

after playing it for 2h here are some impressions mostly the stuff I didn't like:

- dialog system: You can only see 3 answers/questions at once. To see the rest you have to scroll. What's even worse it doesn't wrap around, means when you are on position 1 and press up you don't jump to the last entry. It just bugs me :/

- Atmosphere: I played Oblivion and I liked it for what it was. But this game still feels too much like it, imho. For example the way ppl react to you. Also the Fallout atmo isn't quite there. (may get better if I play longer)

- 3rd Person View: The movement of my character looked so bad that I didn't even want to try out the combat in it.

- Menus: It's okay but in the original Fallout I press 1 button and I see my karma, my stats, my skills, my perks. Now everything is on it's own site. (This maybe better in the PC version ->shortcuts for every menu)

- Combat: VATS is nice and works well. To be fair didn't play Real-Time combat much, however my first impression for it was a "meh".

- Graphics: Can't complain game looks good, so far I haven't seen anything which impressed me, but I'm not in this game for the graphics Smile

- Sound: The music is kinda wrong for me, rest of it is ok. Voices were fine so far and different^^ though that may change with more progess in the game.

-Minigames: I only played the lockpick minigame, didn't really like it Sad If have seen you can try and force the lock open, but if you fail you can never open that lock again. I'll save and try it next time.

- Items: So far I have come across alot of items already: laser pistol, rifle, pistol, different kind of armors. Armors now often have bonuses like +stats or +skills which is pretty nice. There is a LOT of crap lying around dunno if it's useful but I doubt it.

- Tutorial/Beginning/Char Creation: It's nicely done but frankly a screen where I could input all my stuff would have sufficed me too.

- Quests: Can't really say much about them right now. Sometimes the choices are a bit too much good, neutral, bad - like. But most of the time they seemed just fine.

Lastly you don't seem to heal when you rest (via pipboy) or was it just my imagination?
Overall game seems ok but currently I'm not impressed aka I hoped for a great game but it's only ok/good. But maybe you have to grow into it.

It's a little too obvious that this is Oblivion with another setting, basically Razz

But so far it's been alright..

I'm really enjoying the game, which has come at a complete surprise. Roll on Dead Space and Fable 2 though!

I played for about 2 - 3 hours last night. Haven't followed any of the quests yet as was just dicking about really.

Really liking it so far but I was a fan of Oblivion and tbh, it really is oblivion all over again with a few new bells and whistles.

Atmosphere is great, graphics are decent enough and the sound is good.
The only two things that bug me so far is the dialogue mentioned earlier (i.e. 3 answers on a screen at a time, always defaults to the top).

Also, the ability to not surrender in a fight. I was in Megaton (or whatever its called) and I stole a syringe and got caught. The whole town was after me and my autosave was mid fight (as it saves when you run though a door, but you can change this). Essentially, it meant I had to start from an earlier manual save and I lost about an hours worth of gameplay. Very frustrating.

Oh, love the flame thrower. Great weapon.

Fixed my 360, loving it this far (about 3 hours of gameplay).

I agree with the ppl that say that the Fallout atmosphere is there but at the same its an FPS and very similair to oblivion.

The VATS is cool! I'm guessing i'll spend lots of time with this.

Does it require precise aiming? I'm not that good with a controller yet, so shooters are a bit frustrating for me.

I've found myself using VATS alot because otherwise I'm wasting way too many bullets in firefights. The fact that a headshot is NOT fatal is a bit irritating.

Apart from the above I'm loving it, graphics and sound are great Very Happy

What the hell is Bethseda talking about piracy exists only on the pc not on the fragile and innocent xbox, 99% of games for the pc come a month later so that the virgin xbox is protected from the nasty pc pirates, sheesh. Rolling Eyes

game is awesome. The story, atmosphere, and depth are incredible. It is like Oblivion in many ways, but has enough changes and upgrades to make it feel like a totally new experience. The graphics are good for such a massive, non-linear world. Only a few hours in, but I'll be playing many more..
