|

Did a search for the topic, but couldnt find one. So i created this one to keep the talks seperate from the Space Force: Rogue Universe thread.
Parkan II: Space game. Fly around in space ship. Do missions. Upgrade equipment on ship AND your battle suit. Fly different ships. Also has FPS element and apparently some RTS elements.
Voice acting is horrible. Gameplay is great. Graphics are pretty but not cutting edge.

Currently available on Gogamer as a $29.99 download.

Anybody able to get rid of that arrow in your retical that is there for when you use the mouse ala Freelancer to steer (It gets further away the faster you turn) I find it very distracting while using a joystick and I want to follow it. So it needs to go away.
I am very much considering making my own voice overs. It is killing me. Not in a campy way either.... just plain B A D!

Hehe. I was thinking of doing the exact same thing.
But... there's quite a few of them.

Haven't played enough to really see if the game is any good but from the intro it's quite possibly the worst voice acting I've heard.

Any detailed explanation of what the game is exactly? Looks like Space sim + FPS. Could be win, since I love space pirate type games by virtue.

it is a light space sim (by "light" I mean don't expect Freespace 2 quality) with FPS after you land your ship on a planet. Going from space to ground isn't seamless (maybe some day somebody will make that game), it loads and then you see a landing animation, then you can walk around inside your ship and teleport to the planet surface to fight or trade in a first person view if you wish.
Voice acting is horrible, I only noticed three different voices; male, female, and robot. Really annoying, but not a deal breaker.
FPS controls seem alright, not great. Hitting the jetpack will fire you way up pretty quickly, it seems really unnatural. I don't know if you take damage just letting yourself fall back to the earth (like Tribes), but I didn't notice any health meter and I didn't die, so yeah. The only way I died was running out of ammo for both my main gun and rocket launcher in the middle of a battle and I didn't know how to rearm. Enemies don't seem to drop ammo or guns when fighting on the ground.
I only played the first few missions so I don't have all of the controls down yet, but overall the game seems like a decent time waster at least for those interested in a bit of space combat mixed with FPS.

Nope. But you can explore the planet in your ship.
If you like the space sim genre, i consider it a must have game.,
Oh, also, it had multiplayer and the ability to mod the game and host your own server. There are also NO load screens. you can fly from one universe to the other and never use a jump gate or see a load screen.
And, the universe is BIG.

All that in a 25mb download? I'm impressed. It seems like a game I must check out. Is there a scene release of Evochron Renegades? If not, have you found a crack, or you just bought it?
This video just popped up on my youtube front page. Its a video showing off the Infinity engine for an upcoming space game. You probably know about this already, but its news to me. http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=DCzDKj3hjOE&feature=rec-fresh
