one would reckon a post-nuclear-war world SHOULD feel pretty empty. that's a part of the game.
fallout 1 & 2 also gave you that feeling. you would stumble into towns but when you were exploring places and encountering bandits/mutants while travelling, the creepy feeling of an empty world was dominant.
comparing this to oblivion, with all due respect, is a terrible crime.
the fallout universe has nothing to do with the elder scrolls.
however, if it feels TOO empty (ala - towns are too empty) then that sucks very much. |
This game feels exactly like Oblivion, I haven't played other games in the series but those that did say that its more like Oblivion than Fallout.
I'll give this game another try now, I better like it or else if GoW2 or farcry2 gets released, I won't touch this again.

Hold down B button to activate/deactivate the flashlight
Oh and use stimpacks and/or food to heal yourself. And whenever you see a bed you can use, USE it regain full health.
edit: Shooting someone while being hidden is pretty powerful, just wanted to add that.

Is there any way to heal yourself at the museum? or near it? I can't go anywhere without health

Drinking water (from bathroom or wherever) will heal you, but you will receive some radiation. I used lots of landmines/frag grenades on the super mutants. In the main room, there are some Stealth Boy's. They make you invisible (as long as you stay crouched/hidden...and don't walk too close to enemies). You'll need one when you exit the museum, too.

is the s4m release a reviewers copy?? Should I be scared to play this game MORE than other 360 games released early?

What museum are you talking about? Technology? If so, you got some real problems with your character if you can't take super mutants on. If you do have problems fighting them, try sneaking around them and killing them from behind (first shot while hidden will always be a critical hit). And make sure to get your repair up pretty high, it really helps.

Reviewers copys can only be played on debug machines. (Unsigned code) Hence this is a signed retail. (Code gets signed only for retail copys)

This is untrue. I used to intern at gamespot years ago. I don't know where you got this idea, but they play on regular Xbox 360s, not debug/developer's kits.

This is true.
I have a friend and he reviews games professionally, so occasionally he receives early review copies and they play just fine on his regular Xbox 360.

Not feeling a lot of love from this thread tbh...Wonder if it's just that minority who don't like it are louder? or it isn't the zomg best game ever shiznet motherfucker of a game that it's being built up to be?
Is the control system similar to Oblivion?
Leaning towards playing this on PC tbh, although joypad might be more convenient if they've put more thought into the pad control system?

I didn't like Oblivion at all, combat felt shitty, side quests weren't particular interesting. World felt very barren. I like Fallout 3 a lot though. I love exploring, doing all sorts of sidequests, and the world feels very convincing and awesome.

The physics, maps (fast travel, etc), inventory, and NPC encounters are taken straight from oblivion. However, they have changed a lot: graphics are crisper and gameplay is a lot more fun (thanks to V.A.T.S.). I don't think it matters which version you get...I use V.A.T.S. to target stuff, and rarely do I have to aim to shoot unless I run out of AP. It's not the best game ever, nor is it revolutionary, but the environment is fun and the story is massive. Well worth the sticker price if you liked Oblivion even a little.
