The boys at PCG call Far Cry a "beautiful" and "utterly absorbing" FPS, particularly praising the combat (it "just works") and consistently surprising narrative.
"Make now mistake, this is an absolutely superb game," reads PCG's review. "It's a game you'll find very, very hard to stop playing, Once you're in, you'll not leave until forced for a number of reasons," it continues, bullet-pointing the "extraordinary" visuals, "absorbing" first-person lock and standout weather effects.
"Games have simulated weather in the past, but none better than this," PCG continues. "Dawn is astonishing. Sunset adds drama to an already dramatic landscape. Storms send chills. The moon fills the sky."
But it's definitely not all perfect, says the mag, sticking the "under-used" buddy system ("you can't, for instance, invite them to help you on tough tasks") on its negatives list, as well as AI baddies that respawn after you've taken them down ("I stopped caring after this first couple of hours")
Nothing too major then by the sounds of it, and PCG certainly seems to agree: "After playing Far Cry 2, I'm simply unable to go back to straight and simple first-person shooters," it says.
"This game has executed my expectations. Would you, could you, go back to games with similar gunfights to this, but along a more rigid axis? I think your own expectations are going to rise dramatically." |

For me, that would be a bad thing... AC was good looking, but in the end quite disappointing in terms of gameplay...

Aye, same here. He obviously doesn't agree though, and he''s on about gameplay anyway. One thing AC did have, was immersion, and that's something FC2 is going for as well, and hopefully it can deliver it without harming gameplay.
What does sound bad though is respawning enemies, we didn't like it in COD4, and we won't like it this.

What's with the scene those days...F3 and SR2 was nowhere at the time they was leaked(only review copys I gues),now some people have Dead space,FarCry2,Gears of war2 and etc. and no releases yet.WTF?

There is no scene, just random dirty people who upload.
I mean, you dont deserve a special title for uploading games, unless you alway get them out before everyone else.
I mean, ffs i could just upload shit i buy and call myself a "scene dude".

SAN FRANCISCO October 14, 2008 Today, Ubisoft announced that Far Cry 2 has gone gold for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system, and PC. The game will ship October 21, 2008 and has an ESRB of "Mfor Mature.
but... it is leaked for Xbox!

I'm thinking that it has been "Gold" for awhile. How could it just go gold and he has a retail copy in the pic.
Either way I hope this comes before the weekend. This is one I'm really looking forward too.
