Ah, can't wait for this movie. It's been on the theaters in USA for some days now, right?
Too bad it won't come to my country before late spring 2009...

Without checking the link, I'm hoping this is a movie about a toast that has Patrick Stewart's face (there's a pretty good resemblance, don't deny it! Very Happy) in it. Because that would be a lot better than whatever it really is.

that's bill maher's face

though, it does look like picard on that toast, with no hair

heard reviews that the film is just a very light comedy about religion
i kind of expected more of a full broadside from maher, knowing his stance on superstition
religions are waaaay overdue for a theaterical documentary study like this, and it does not help to merely ride with the tides of ignorance

they mentioned in an interview that there's 14 hours of material with lots of great stuff they cut out, like satanists and interview with rickard darwkins and others, so i hope they do a 4dvd special edition release or a TV series or SOMETHING
also mentioned that there is a 4 hour cut of borat somewhere with a very different tone to the theater cut - i'd love to see that one aswell appear in some form

Reviews have been generally positive, and I think he would have committed career suicide if he had made a feature film of him just ranting about religion. Nobody wants to listen to the Anti-Cruise either. He doesn't take a stand and that makes it possible to draw a conclusion without feeling it was pushed on to you(even though it is).

Some of their albums were, in countries like Germany (big surprise Very Happy) due to the gory graphics of the covers. Plus I think they were banned from playing in Spain or some other country for a while, but I think it's all cool these days.

Plenty of bands are banned from Canada, Blacklisted being one.

Not entirely true. The movie was banned 30 years ago when it was released in 1979, and unbanned the next year...

banned is a big word. It s some songs they cant play and some shirt-motives they cant sell and they had to make a differnet cover for one cd. Imho that is something a band with such lyrics and pictures should be able to live with.
I have seen them live two times i think and the "banning" affairs has rather helped their publicity, so it didnt work out that well anyways Very Happy (well for unsuspecting kids in record-stores it might have...)

have a list? and I dont mean banned because they have a criminal recorded and cant get past the border (happened to slipknot first time they tried to play here). Im talking banned for ridiculous reasons (because they are "satanists" and evil etc)

Obviously you know nothing about Satanism. Satanists dont sacrifice shit and all that crap you hear in the media (which is mostly christian). Their are fanatical satanists who do, but they arent real satanists. Ive known a few Satanists and they were cool ppl.

And ive read the satanic bible (by LeVay), it doesnt say anything about murdering ppl and all that shit. Ppl who do that use it as an excuse to commit fucked up acts

Plus, ppl who are scared of satanists are ppl who believe in Satan. I dont believe in Satan. I believe God is both good and evil. If your good, god is good to you. If your bad, god is bad to you. No such thing as a "devil"

Believing in Satan is like believing in Christ, both mythical figures.

btw, tried watching this today;
Expelled No Intelligence Allowed DVDRip XviD-NeDiVx ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1091617/ )
creationist propaganda alert!
i was hoping for a proper unbiased thorough documentary on the subject, but it turned out to be the usual christian way of twisting facts and leaving out crucial details to fit their agenda

Finally a release Religulous.DVDRip.XviD-SAPHiRE. Although not as bashful and scientific as I expected, still was fun and informative enough. I won't spoil anything so go look for your self and be enlightened how much nutcases live in this world.
