Maybe you shuld have read his whole post kommando Look at the 3rd line from the bottom. I dont know what the problem can be. You have done everything as it shuld be done.......... When I make this shortcut manualy game starts :-]
My shortcut points to steam.exe so => for same reason patch did nothing (or at least didn't make new short cut).
In about hour I will try to reinstall game once again with deep meditating at every point Wink

Some time ago I changed location of my WinXP account's desktop directory to another on another partition (TweakUI). And guess what? In default location where my desktop dir should be there is one small file - patched HL2 shortcut.

I find this values in hl2.msi open with orca and find in left table RadioButton in right table change DESKTOPSHORTCUTS Value from 1 to 0 and from 0 to 1 WiseDialogFontDefault]No, don't put shortcuts on my desktop. And in tab "licence agreement" i make I do Not Accept and next button continue installation

When opened you will see 2 window panes, go to the ‘Tables’ one on the left and scroll down to ‘Media’
Click on ‘Media’ this will show you the entries in the Right pane. There will be 6 columns.
Change all the entries in the ‘VolumeLabel’ column to HL2_DVD
Then ‘Save’ it. (You can also use a program called ‘Masai Editor’ instead of ‘Orca’)
Now burn to a DVD using Nero using the Label HL2_DVD.

Just a Minor FIX WITH THESE instructions... FROM CD2 the file to be copied is named HL22.cab

Where in the file can I change the setup to Start with the HL2 installation instead of Steam? Then I can just let it run the HL2 setup instead then the Offline patch. Or does the game need the Steam.exe to run? If I run the HL2 setup, it doesn't allow you to change the installation directory, only when doing the Steam installation. Can that be changed as well?

None of the Vengeance rls have Half-Life 1: Source. You have to DL that from another rls and merge them yourself. Works fine, but you then get the node/ai bugs. Rolling Eyes

Got the same problem here: 1. PC has no internet access at all 2. Have never tweaked around with my desktop settings 2. Installed the cd version by vengeance with desktop shortcuts and cs 3. Clicked cancel when steam tried to update itself (i don't have an internet connection on that pc) 4. Clicked cancel when steam asked for an account 5. Clicked hl2install.exe in the CD Upgrade Version by vengeance which I had included on the CD (do I need offline install in that case? I thought the CD Upgrade Version release fixed any remaining probs pertaining to pcs with no internet access) 6. A black dos box appears for a split second 7. Clicked on half life 2 shortcut on desktop - nothing happens Why? Here's what I'm gonna try tonight: - unselect desktop shortcuts (maybe that'sgonna help) - try using the offliner installer patch and not the CD Upgrade Version Patch by Vengeance - copy the content of the vengeance folder ito my steam folder (someone in this thread mentioned that he had to do that) Will post again to let you know, but am always glad about construtive suggestions

Tried everything mentioned above (shortcut, offline installer, copying over folder), but nothing worked... Tried it on a pc with internet connection and it worked, although I HAD to use the hl2install.exe included in the CD Upgrade Version, the one included on CD5 did NOT work... And I tried it both with and without desktop shortcuts - it always worked. But how can I get this game to run with no internet connection? So many people here had the same problem but nobody posted how they solved it

What Provision == Emporio? lol MaddoxX but now I have vengence release up to the fourth update and wonder if they will still update because they seem to don't have everything... plus... when will the SDK be cracked? Hammer require to have HL2 in the steam list.. I guess some other tools too. Guess I'll have to buy the game to have all the files clear and the Source Mod folder and all...

hmm i'm-ah confused there is a counterstrike source update 8 by ind and half life 2 update 1 by provision i have the vengeance dvd download and all vengeance cracked patches --------------------------------------------------------------------- is CSS update 8 real? it's not on the front page and info on it seems to be scarce. also there is no .nfo included is the provision update newer than the vengeance updates? if so can i install it over the vengeance updates?
