cheers kid

hehe, sweet, sweet stereotypes

still, i'm having a blast with the game even though my "[unworthy] joy is based on the lack of previous knowledge".. Laughing

so as to conclude, this game is only fun for the ignorant ppl, in which case it makes perfect sense that beth. released it for consoles at first... Smile

Yes it does perfect sense to the kids.
Like it does perfect sense to a cleaning lady shoving the dirt under the living room rug. A guest(you and your lack of previous knowledge Very Happy ) prob wouldnt notice it, but a person who lives there, WILL notice and care.

Now look at me while a make a valid adult, not fanboyish, based on actual previous knowledge, statement:

I will prob. buy it, play it, and maybe even enjoy it, but that doesnt mean i dont see its faults or that i pretend that i dont care when i(we?)can sense the tragic loss of the masterpiece it could (should) be.
Nevertheless i apreciate their effort. They should just call it something else. Wink

Hey what would you call it? "After the bombs"? "The adventures of fallout boy in fallout wonderwasteland"? "NukaGangasta"? "Oblifallvion"? "The revenge of meatdog"? "Life after the vault"? Rolling Eyes

Edit: Forgot this great name: "Fallout rip-off" Twisted Evil

Who gives a fuck what it is called? Fallout 3 could suck baseballs through a straw and it wouldn't change my memories of the previous games. I've never seen people cry so much over a single-digit number before in my life.

im just saying judge the game for what it is, not what (you think) it should have been.. and even more importantly, judge it when you've actually experienced it first-hand.

The fuck do i care what they call it as long as I (that's [aɪ]) enjoy it...
So in other words "Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man." as the dude put it.

Having said that, let me tell you one definite advantage the PC version will have over the console's: Quicksave/load Smile

You (that's [juː]) are correct. judge after playing.

i tried it at a friend's place. and i liked it. except for the map, which sucks.
we spent an hour going around in circles in some library. 3 people couldn't find their way in a building. with a map that shows your current location live.
ok, we were high, i'll give you that. but not that high. that map is fucked. i never had this problem in oblivion.
dunno why they had to mess with something perfectly functional. prolly 'cause people would've complained that it's too similar to oblivion. which they will anyway. hell, they already are Very Happy

it was a multi-floor building. the map was ok for one floor, but when you went up or down some stairs, it would remain the same. i mean you wouldn't get a new map for the floor that you were on. you would see yourself on the minimap moving through the upper/lower floor map(the only one). so on the minimap you'd be facing a door, but you would be actually facing a wall.

it was an almost silenthill-esque labyrinth. every time we thought we were going a new way, we'd end up back were we started. just like in Carpenter's "in the mouth of madness".. Rolling Eyes

I agree, people have since Black Isle was closed down been heralding them as the greatest gaming studio ever. Most of the talent that was in Black Isle at it's demise had nothing to do with the creation of their most famed games "Fallout 1 and 2".
Most of the real talent had already left at that time and this could be seen in their game "Lionheart: Legacy of the crusader" which frankly wasn't that good. Not to mention the abomination that was "Baldurs gate: Dark Alliance"

Why ta heck do u assume i was refering to the studio at their closing doors time, and not at its creative and quality peak? bias?

Edit i played lionheart. Yes it was bad, even for an action-rpg. But thats not the work of the black-isle i remembered. Thats the work of some team with the BI logo IMO, true the coffee kid remained the same..cmon some of them formed obsidian, but can u state that was the original team ? dont think so.

It's OK, Zoolander... not everyone's an ambiturner.

If you have trouble finding your way inside of a building without someone holding your hand, perhaps it's a PEBKAC situation?

heh, i was never too fond of labyrinths, but i managed to graph-paper my way out of quite a few tough spots from the early 90's, when an in-game map was unheard of.

anyway, i never excluded the possibility of this being one of them pebkacs, as you tech kiddies like to call'em.
i'd be surprised if it were, though, since neither i, nor the couple of people that i played with, aren't borderline retarded, as a pebkac in this particular situation would imply.

Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance was a great game. It was revolutionary. It defined the whole Action-RPG genre on consoles and it's engine was used in countless games for consoles and PC. It has 84% at gamerankings.com.
Maybe this is just another case of good old PC-console-hate? Rolling Eyes

Btw BG:DA was developed by Snowblind Studios and not Black Isle.

LMAO, I love when people throw the pc console hate at me, guess what retard, I've owned just about every console that's came out since the NES except anything sony put out and I have a 360 sitting next to me right now.

Revolutionary? DII set that standard years ago. Black Isle set the standard for RPG's and has still yet to be outdone with the baldur's gate series. You think anyone who's love for those BG games could stomach that crap dark alliance shit with a view distance of about 3 inches. If I wanted to play a dungeon crawler I'd stick to gauntlet.

I like BGDA. It's simply an entirely different sort of game, that's all. Co-op was terrific.

Actually, the BGDA engine was not used in any PC games. Aside from DA1 and DA2, it was also used in Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel (now that was an awful game, simply on it's own merits, not just as a Fallout-branded title), as well as both Champions of Norrath games on PS2.

It seems my guess wasn't completely in the wrong direction after all. So why didn't you buy the Sony consoles? Because of hate? That makes you still an idiot. Do you think I care if you only hate Sony consoles or other ones too? You disliked the lead platform of the game (BGDA was a PS2 exclusive at first) that's why you didn't give the game a chance.
Unlike you I had a PS2 at the time the game came out and I played it and it was very good and as you can see other people who played it agree. You have no clue about this game and you're talking shit.

Oh shit I must have missed the console version of Diablo 2. Surprised
Learn to read. Rolling Eyes
I wrote that it defined the genre on consoles. Basically every later Action-RPG on consoles played, looked and controlled similiar to BGDA.

At least Bard's Tale used the engine on PC. Maybe more but I'm not sure.

Why isnt there a bigger buzz for this game. Miss the days where discussion threads would reach 100+ pages in anticipation of a game.
Heard mostly good things about F3 and eventhough its not GOTY, Im still looking forward to this very much!
