only thing thats got me wondering is why the DVD Rls is smaller (near 300mb i think) than the 5cd ver?... or is this just due to compression?...

I've downloaded both releases, and they are the same.
All files from the CDs version are present on the DVD.
The difference in size is caused simply by the different number and type of disc.
You may have noticed that CD-images are always larger than the actual data stored inside. This is because they also store stuff like CD-header, track information, file allocation table etc.
The size of this data varies. Some parts are fixed (same size on any CD) others varry depending on how much actuall data is on the disc and on the number of files.
This additional data is usually between 50-100mb per disc.
On the CD version you've got all this data 5 times, on the DVD version only once.

Half-Life 5CD Version - VENGEANCE release with the
Half-Life.2.CDVersion.Upgrade-VENGEANCE ? |
it is possible, but I'm afraid that You will have to reinstall the whole game.

Hey, can someone tell me where I modify in the .msi files to change the default steam install location and to automatically have the "Do not create shortcuts" radio button depressed. And how to not start the steam updating process right after the installation of HL2.
Thanks

Look at earlier posts in the 5CD Vengeance Release thread here at nforce. There is a link for a program that changes attributes and settings in an .msi setup file. Also, just disable your internet connection if you don't want Steam to update...

does anyone know how to get Half-Life: Source working with this release?
its mentioned in the steamemu.ini config file for Vengeance's hl2install, but even with my half life source.gcf file in place with the rest of them, it doesn't do anything to it.
im going to try extracting everything from the GCF file and putting it in the HL2 directory, that should work. but im assuming it can be used in the same way as Vengeances installer uses HL2 - by extracting just certain files from the GCF and using the rest directing out of the GCF archive

to get back to previous discussion were everyone was getting on my ass;
it has nothing to do with being ungrateful, i didn't even download the emporio release.
it's the principle of things, i don't want every noob & his mom to release their rarred up installation dir.
i have every respect for a group that releases stuff AND does it right.
not some random irc team that starts releasing stuff by their own standards just so they can take credit for releasing it first.
