Read my post again. Not the checkpoint SAVE system, but the checkpoint enemies in the game that respawn every 3 minutes... So you have to clean up the same spot AGAIN and AGAIN... |
Just drive right through it? |
So they can chase you like cunts everytime and shoot your car to bits? |
Get out of Jeep at checkpoint ----------> Rocket Launcher ---------- Fire a few rockets in the bunch + few nades for good measures -------------> Get in Jeep ------------> Problem solved and it takes like 10 sec.
Just stop at the next weapon shop for refill. That's what i do and , while it is indeed slightly annoying , has worked pretty well for me and doesn't take much time compared to either A) Trying to escape in a Jeep chase or 2) Trying to kill them with your regular gun.
But yeah overall enemy respawn is annoying, I didn't liked it in STALKER and i don't like it in FC 2 either but it's just a minor issue anyway since i'm still having a blast with the game.

Did you just compare SoFP to Far Cry 2? Seriously?

Does anyone have some stuttering? I have 4870 and E8600, everything is maxed out, 1680x1050, noAA. I'm using Catalyst 8.11 RC1 + far cry 2 hotfix. I have stuttering only with this game.

Unlike STALKER there's not even the chance that you'll find something cool on all these annoying respawning enemies. If there was just some reason other than to stop them killing you, it would make it seem more worthwhile.
Another example is X3. The pirates and Kh'aak in that game are relentless in certain sectors, but they all have the chance of dropping something interesting, or even giving up their ship, so while they're annoying, there's the chance that through killing them you will benefit.
In Far Cry 2 it's just a nuisance. Oh joy, I might get to waste most of my sniper ammunition and pick up a rusty AK that jams every 3 shots.
It's a good game. Just they need to respawn slower. Every 2 days, or something. There needs to be some sort of reward for having killed them. Not being pestered at that checkpoint for a while woulld be a start.
A suggestion I can think of if you don't want to deal with many checkpoints or take the bus is to drive down that railway on the left of the map. I encounter 1, maybe 2 cars along that while travelling the entire map. So if you need to get from one side to the other while being relatively pest free, it's a lot better than taking the twisty-turny checkpoints of unnecessary game-prolongment. Also buy and take the flare gun, it makes most encounters more interesting.

Holly crap this gameplay sucks a lot. Graphics are nice, weapons' sound is great but gameplay + voices of the enemies are just crap. They act like bunch of retarts. No yelling no screaming, no anrgy voices just random crap and mumbling..

The Geiger counter?
Also you got a detecter that goes beep-beep faster and faster the closer you get to an anomaly.

Am I the only one getting crazy memory leak issues with this game? After playing for like 10 minutes, FPS degrades to like half of what it was. Only solution is to exit the game and restart it, or set settings down. Anyone got some solutions? It happens on both the 8.9 drivers and the 8.10 drivers. I'm about to go try the 8.11 RC1 drivers right now.

Or maybe your graphics card is overheating too much ? That used to happen to me with my previous graphics card

Since I made a post nitpicking this game, I feel obligated to point out some of its good sides.
I have to give this game some credit, I really haven't had this much fun on the pc in quite a while.
There were those moments, like traversing through the jungle at night and seeing a jeep's headlights coming down the dirt road. The first time you see it it's like "Whoa shit, I'm totally going to kill this guy and steal his car." As he's driving by I pop a couple pistol shots through the windshield, nonchalantly reload my .45, then hop into the front seat and drive away.
Or driving along a bridge, spotting a speeding car behind you, then quickly jumping out of the vehicle and watching the car crash into your jeep, then smashing the side of the wooden bridge and plummeting into the river.
And one of my favorites: putting an IED on the dirt road on a convoy mission, then detonating it as the trucks drive by - only to miss the target car, and being forced to hop into your jeep and chase that sucker down.
It really does have some action movie moments. It's an extremely fun game that may wear out after a while but it's definitely one of the best I've played this year.

Nope, card temps are fine. I have them monitored as well. I can post some benchmarks for proof too. It's really odd, not even Crysis pulls this shit on me. I can run it on high/ultra high at 1920x1200 just fine, but FarCry 2? After about 10 minutes, its fpsjust starts to degrade. Places that were once around 40fps, are now around 15fps. Really odd issue. I'll go install the 8.11 RC1 drivers and see if those help any.

the most fun (and most action) are in the campaign missions. Side missions are a tad repetitive, but heck those are the once that pay out most (either diamonds or new weapons in shop).
anyway, sure it has its weak points (especially the whole respawning thing) , but i think so far, the good parts overweight the weak ones.
Let's wait and hope for some mods that make the respawn go away (shouldn't be too hard to do i guess).
