controls are similair to any 3rd person shooter, just when you arm a weapon to attack the mouse isnt as responsive as i would like it, but you get used to it, its not a show killer

Okay, there is something you whiners are not getting here.
There is a fundamental difference between adapting the controls, and radically altering the movement properties of the character himself.
The character has certain movement abilities (speeds, etc) that are identical in all versions of this game. He can rotate this fast, he can aim that fast, et cetera. These identical movement abilities are manipulated using very different input methods on PC versus consoles, but all have to work within the same boundaries of this characters speed limits. In this particular game, the character moves a bit more slowly than the superheroes most of you are used to playing. What you're asking for is not for EA to "improve the controls," but more "improve the characters abilities," which is not what they wanted for this game. It's not that your mouse and keyboard isn't working. It's simply that this character is a bit of a lurch, and he is designed that way on purpose.
It was the same thing with RE4. PC gamers wanted the character to have radically different abilities to match what they were used to in FPSes, but that simply wasn't how the game was designed.
Look, PC gamers are the same as all other gamers. You guys don't deserve a faster, stronger, more responsive character than the console versions, just so that it doesn't play outside of your high-sensitivity FPS comfort-zone, so the childish demands should really stop. |
There's still something you're not getting here. If the controls become more responsive because I turn off vSync (fact), if the controls on the menu are actually laggy (fact), if a simple PC port could (but doesn't) just add a mouse-following reticule and have the character still move the same but just have to catch up to aiming at the reticule (like a tank), then yes, there is something wrong with the controls and EA is simply pretending that it's supposed to feel this way. As a PC gamer I'm not asking for more intuitive controls or a faster, better character. I'm asking for controls that feel right with a keyboard and mouse.
Seriously, ask yourself why the menu cursor lags. Ask yourself why controls are more responsive if vSync is off. You cannot answer this with "it's supposed to be that way." It's stupid, it's broken, and people have a right to complain about a product that is a lemon to prevent others from making the purchase.

every review pretty much says that game is awesome and the mouse controls suck.
So either play with gamepad or get used to a shitty mouse.

Yeah, all the people bitching about the controls need to GTFO. Play the bitch with a gamepad. The reason why the controls are more sluggish with VSYNC enabled is because the FPS is then capped - Meaning your character and menu's move around slower. (All the menu's in this game are based off of real in-game movement).

You do realize that if controls change based on framerate, the engine was coded improperly, right? Ugh, I give up. Being a coder myself I don't know how else to explain that this is just a broken method. Go ahead and keep defending it, I don't think I can make the point any clearer.

When you actually play the game you'll understand what i'm saying. All the GUI type elements are actual in-game things. They aren't a seperate overlay like in most games.
"Engine Coded Improperly"
So because the developers chose not to follow the age old Quake esque design, that means their engine is coded improperly? Play the damn game before you go around talking about shit you don't even know about. |
Okay, that's acceptable. I'm going to assume there is never a mouse cursor on the screen, even on the front-end menu, and give you the benefit of the doubt here. But you still haven't explained why it should control any differently depending on vSync and framerate. I know technically why it does, but you really think it's supposed to? This is what I meant by an improperly coded engine. If it's supposed to lag, it should lag the same whether vSync is on or off. The fact people are turning vSync off in order to make the game "feel normal" should be enough indication that somebody on the dev team fucked up.

It's a good game, prett eerie as well thanks to great atmosphere and use of sounds, bought it via EA Downloader and it's worked pretty well so far, performance is great as well though I had to force AA as the ingame setting seems to be a on/off value so it might be some shader based blur thing.
Game also looks pretty good and it's also very "dark" and brutal with tons of death and gore plus some pretty violent scenes along with the fact that enemies basically has to be hacked apart.
Currently on the third chapter and it seems to be a pretty long game, takes about 1 to 1.5 hours a chapter (There seems to be twelve of them.) so far though I take it pretty slow and explore in order to find nodes, credits and similar (Helps with purchasing objects and upgrading them, have a level 2 suit now which really helps plus a pretty good weapon.)
