what soundcard do you have then? Onboard chips often work with the bigger titles because they put more money into QA, so it might be beneficial if you buy yourself a new one (might also give you better performance).

I'm using the Realtek HD onboard chip and have the same problem. Although I have an Audigy 4 I get BSODs on NBA 2K9 and other games so I've gone back to using onboard, but I guess Bully doesn't like it.

Here is a fix from forums:

Quote:
It turns out that people with more than 2GB of RAM have the problem. Lowering your RAM to 2GB fixed it for me. At least a few others in the Steam forums have tried it to with success. Someone over there seemed to figure out the problem was with the RAM.

To fix this you can pull RAM out of your machine to put it at or below 2GB, but that isn't the best way.

In Windows Vista I did:

bcdedit /set TRUNCATEMEMORY 2139095040

And then rebooted. That has to be run as an admin, so start cmd.exe as admin, and then run that command.

Some day when they have the patch working you can go back and do:

bcdedit /deletevalue TRUNCATEMEMORY

XP still uses boot.ini. Here is someone's advice on how to change it there:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8333374&postcount=108

Be aware, this change will limit windows to 2GB of RAM. Right now it's the best option we have found.

Personally, I don't feel like dropping my RAM to 2GB to play this game.
Now on the other hand if Fallout 3 needed this fix... Smile

Look dipshit.
All the games are not made by the same company using the same technology. Every company has different programmers who do things differently. Your performance on game X is immaterial to your performance on game Y.
lhzr's explanation isn't any more spectacular (and is making similarly dipshitty statements), but function in another game is meaningless got it?

I can not think of a rockstar port so bad.

such a good company and I am disappointed with this, gta vice city / san andres runs better.

Now I'm afraid that the same thing happens with the gta iv

Indeed. That said, this game does have merit (especially when you consider it was released quite a while ago now). Shame the port is so poor, but for what it's worth (aside from controller reconfiguration problems) I didn't have any of the faults mentioned earlier.

Wow, so random but great news. Was waiting forever for a patch and was about to get 360 version.

The game now works perfectly when it comes to gfx, but sound resets to stereo from surround each time I start the game and I have major problems with getting my gamepad to work properly Sad

I never got around to trying the PC version (already have the 360 one + horror stories of the PC port port me off) - but I take it that this new patch, which sounds like the holy grail of PC patches - one that actually FIXES a game, will require a new crack?

=Edit=

Protection: None.

HAHAH! Wow, that was unexpected Very Happy

Disregard the above, please guys. I should've read first.

I've also been waiting to play this since it was first released. Can't believe they actually bothered to release a patch and make it playable - thanks for the news!

Wow, although i would have thought even the most die-hard bully fan would already have every trace of the game removed from the computer by this point. It's the thought that count though.
