Install steam first and THEN install hl2.
Use the Setup.exe on the cd and not the hl2.msi which only starts the hl2 install and not both.

But when i run setup.exe i got an error;
16 bit ms-dos subsystem
The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.
Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
So its my PC the problem?

I don't know...
I just installed it a few hours ago...
I installed STEAM first... then went on with HL2 itself...

Just run autorun.exe and it will install fine.
If at first you don't succeed,
Come back with a Gun
