it's not a scare tactic. You DO get put on a ban list, but it's temporary as has been stated before. You don't even need hacked firmware to upgrade to NXE, so why would they ban innocent people forever? Sounds like jealousy to me.
Also, who cares about live? I have a gold account that I haven't used in months. If I want to play online, I prefer a PC, where I can type and such. I hate listening to 12 yr olds on headsets.

Well I know I can't connect to Live while I have this new Dash until the 19th. I have gold account also and I don't even play online but I do use Live for game updates (as in like patches). And sometimes demos (like Mirror's Edge). I dont really care about the demos too much but I can't live without game updates.

come on every one knew that , no drive laser heating up = no extensive heat from dvd drive = no rrod and dirty disks | That its not at all why you get RROD tho :\ |
True. lots of times it is the solder developing separation from the chips from heating and cooling. Normal heat and cooling will do it. This isn't going to solve a majority of the RROD problems.

The reason for the dvd geting hot is NOT the laser or the speed of the drive.
its the placing of the dvd drive over the gpu heatsink as a part of the cooling.
MS used the underside of the dvd drive as a shiled to get the hot air out of the console.
(thats why the game disc comes out hot after playing)
i have made a casemod that removes the dvddrive away from the gpu and its heatsink and my games are not hot when i take them out.

I hope I get banned. In fact it's about time I mod and start piratan. Then I won't have to go through the hassle of trying to cancel my gold sub. YOU HEAR THAT MS? IT'S EASIER FOR ME TO GET BANNED THAN CANCEL MY FUCKING SUBSCRIPTION!
i can has computar?!

you can't get banned or its very unlikely anyhow IMO.
Think of it this way. You and you brother use the same xbox. His tag gets accepted into the Beta program for NXE but yours doesn't.
The update gets applied to the xbox and it is via console, and not gamertag. This would therefore mean that you cannot access live and in theory, are accessing the XNE without being on the beta.
Plus, have you actually breached any terms and conditions by installing the update? You're applying a MS patch on an MS product. Its early, but thats MS fault.

I never really liked that game. It was only popular because nothing else was out at the time

I whant this: put the xbox 360 hdd in the pc and transfer the image. burn a cd-r with the right verification code for that game (one cd-r per game or even better one "master" cd-r)
play the game.

a pretty good idea this is possible with some work..but not with current Ixtreme firmware it need to be changed... then we don't need to use dual layers anymore... but they aren't expensive anymore actualy... and for live this probably isn't secure..

Well aren't I the smart one!
I have a spare HDD from my first 360, that died. So i though it would be cool to see how the new dash looks. So i load up the update on my USB stick, replace my HDD with my spare one, and install the update.
Little did i know, the update isn't stored on the HDD.. so now i'm stuck with the NXE!
Very bright, eh!
