Damnit I really need to connect to Xbox Live!! lol I reformatted my HDD and now my main gamertag is gone. Can't recover it until I connect

afaik they cant read the dvd drives firmware, and can only detect improperly made backups.

peeps with ixtreme firmware have already connected to Xbox Live (via NXE beta), so I'm not sure what these "new checks" are and how they will notice your stealthed 360...unless they are hiding in wait or they unleash the banhammer on Nov 19th. The NXE itself hasn't banned anyone YET.

Lol should I even bother trying? I never registered for the NXE program. But dang if only it would connect for like 1 minute I would be fine.
EDIT: doesn't work. I HATE NOT BEING ABLE TO CONNECT!!!  Without my gamertag, Ive lost the will to play anything.

Lol no I wasn't trying to get rid of the NXE i love it. I reformatted the HDD because I was getting an E-79 error with red lights on my console. And so I reformatted the HDD and then everything is cool now except my gamertag and all my saved games from like 2006 are gone. Everything from farcry, fable, fallout, dead space, soul calibur, DMC, burnout, GTA4 is gone!
Any way to recover saved games? Dammit I had every character unlocked in Soul Calibur and created some really nice ones too

I dont have an MU 
Can I just take my HDD to my cousin's house and plug it into his console? he still uses the old dashboard.

I think you can do that (never tried it myself though). At least you can try it.
The bad news is even if you recover your profile and gamer points, your savegames are gone for good... I feel bad for you man... |

dont use you NXE hd on your cousins xbox 360,than he will have NXE too
use a blank MU,what are the costs today....minor
recover your GT on a blank MU,wait till NXE 19 november and it works again,the saves are gone...sorry

Wrong, nothing happened to his dashboard when I plugged my HDD in. Anyways I got my gamertag back a few hours ago from overthere!! The only thing that was different about my HDD on his console was that the console wouldn't recognize an installed game (obviously). It said "corrupt file" So I just deleted it.
I have a question for those who are in the NXE program, when you have a game in your DVD drive, does it display a big picture of the game in "My Xbox" or does it just show that small icon at the bottom? What I mean is, does it look like this:

I want to install the new dash. My 360 is allready banned from XboxLive. But I hear it disables playing back .mp4 and .avi files which I like to do. Until you get some update on the 19th?? my question is, is it safe to say I will be able to get the media update after the 19th off ng's?? cause my box is banned, how will I Get the media update?? plz help, thanks.

however we will be making the update available to non-Xbox LIVE members very soon. Your Xbox 360 will work in an offline mode, without the update.

it will resume where it left off once the connectivity is regained. If you continue to encounter problems downloading the update please call 1-800-4-my-xbox.
nice too,maybe they send a NXE update disc for the 360

Yea I just hope it includes all the avatars. Without the avatars, the NXE does seem kind of empty.
