it can only get better after pro-street Very Happy

i played every game in the series and have fond memories for every single one of them. Only pro-street was utterly fucked up in a way i cant even begin to describe, because i would have to go back to the traumatizing experience again. And my therapist said, it would be better to never ever speak of the evil again that was pro-street Laughing

Just expect the same cars as the year prior + 1-2 new super cars they got licensed and a handful of everyday beaters you see on the street. Well that's basically what I've come to expect based on what they've delivered.

i'm actually quite satisfied with the car list...it's a broad spectrum and that's what counts in a game where you have to work your way up (though it's focused too much on the poshy high end for a "street" racing game)

I'd rather have that car list than Porsches only to be honest.

Well, pretty much the only bad thing about Porsche Unleashed *was* the car list.

From what I recall, the best car list was in High Stakes or Hot Pursuit 2.

most wanted pursuits reminded me sometimes of gta, because of the escalation that happened in later levels and because of the unpredictability of the outcomes. Sometimes really great and challenging and sometimes just really frustrating to get caught again in the last second and not getting out after 20 minutes of escaping...

true, true - espacially later in the game when you had to collect bounty, but i honestly can't think of anything that would have made the chases in most wanted any better. and the final one where you escape by jumping over the bridge while being chased by a corvette squad was just pure awesomeness.

High Stakes certainly had the best cop chases...

... Or at least it's where I had most fun with cops in a NFS game. Very Happy

If anyone played Hot Pursuit when it was first released back then I'm sure you'll agree it had the best chases. Mainly because it was really the first racing game to incorporate cops in races the way it did. I remember when my bros and I did the first race and the cops were barking at us to pull over shit was intense!

30 iterations later the whole police thing is pretty bland so I can't understand why Most Wanted is getting praised. Cops chase you in almost every game now.

EDIT: Damn this brings back so many memories. Back when the series focus was on the cars rather than paper thin plots they had those little videos of each car in real life action + tons of info and history.

I have a 600MB dir with NFSHS with custom cars and menus. It's really not bad at all, even with the bad graphics. And, while I know it's an arcade, when compared to today's NFS, it feels like a hardcore sim. Laughing

Since HP2 there were no more cars from Ferrari in NFS included. Why is this so? No license?

Hmm, I gotta check out cars/tracks/graphics mods for the PC version. Haven't played it since the late 90's. Laughing

Most manufactures make compromises though due to it being a very easy way to market their product.

I'm curious about the way the cars will handle, it's been well bad in the last couple of NFS games Sad

Then again, most racing games are shit lately. GRID has awesome graphics, and cars handle pretty well - until you hit grass with even an inch of your wheel. One wheel on the grass does not make you spin out of control in real life, especially not when you control your car properly >_<

depends on the speed you re at, the horsepower of your car and how fast you let go of the gas-pedal. Imho it is pretty realistic to spin out of control when hitting gras with a powerful car at full throttle.
