Clone wont work with this protection, game doesnt need dvd once installed, needs to be activated with a server, so a clone would make no difference, someone has to crack the authentication process

Hm, couldn't the crack involve making the game think it has been activated? I guess that is the only way to avoid all nasty triggers and stuff in the game.

and then theres a patch coming out tomorrow to fix some big bugs.... they are not offering the patch via a seperate .exe you update this game within the game now just like FM Live does it.
so even if it does get cracked, might not be able to patch it.

an4rew where did you hear that? The only auto-update FM09 will have is Steam's system but there will be manual patches too as always.

I want to get this for steam but i ain't paying 30 fucking quid when you don't get a box or fuck all.
Why is it dearer on steam when you don't get as much stuff if you bought it from a shop+ it's cheaper.
Ass holes, if they had it the same price everywhere I'd pre order it from steam but i ain't paying more for less.

They have already stated ALL patches will be available as external exe's, as well as downloadable via steam.
It's in one of their sticky threads, either the DRM/activation or steam thread. I don't remember which one.

Doubt it has anything to do with the beta testers. The testers have probably reported tons of bugs, the developers probably just haven't had time to fix them.
Still odd that a game like Football Manager should have so many bugs though, considering that they're basically releasing the same game each year, just with some minor changes. Yet each year the game is almost unplayable until the first and sometimes the second patch.
