I believe they just removed the CD check from the game with that patch. The "turn you into bird" protection is probably still there.

While I agree that ArmA wasnt such a big deal I still got, and am still getting, lots of fun out of it. Since ArmA2 is a new engine (I think) things have been improved considerably compared to ArmA. Hey, in ArmA2 you will be able to reload your weapon while moving. Very Happy

As the guy above said, ArmA2 is the "Game2" they announced some time after OFP was released. But a few things they wanted to put into "Game2" have not been included in ArmA2 like dynamic campaigns.

Either way I am looking forward to ArmA2.

Guaranteed it will be another bug infested POS. And its NOT a new engine btw. I dont know where you got that idea. Its an updated ArmA engine and that is blatantly obvious if you watch any of the videos. The AI make the same mistakes they did in ArmA. There is one video out there on the web somewhere and one of the devs is commentating and he's like "watch as our soldier uses the new cover system". The soldier in question runs out into the middle of a road and lies down - nice use of "cover" /sarcasm off.

Yeah i saw the same video. Pretty old though by now. But i agree i don't expect anything good from BIA anymore. It's like modern bands. They make one good album and the rest of the material is just recycled shit. They are not evolving a bit. ArmA looks like fucking brown poo. And so is Arma2.

New trailer, shows a bit of everything. Smile
(Looks pretty nice, though also very similar to ArmA 1 but hopefully with less bugs and technical issues.)

Looks like Armed Assault 1.5, whereas Armed Assault itself looked like Operation Flashpoint 1.5 - can't say I'm overly impressed by the vibe it's giving and it will no doubt be buggy, clunky and lacking in the modern niceties we've since grown accustomed to.

On the face of it ArmA2 doesn't look a whole lot different, but maybe it has enough under the hood to satisfy as a new entity - I hear there's going to be features like a dynamic campaign and such? Here's hoping it delivers.

Nope. They decided to scrap the dynamic campaign in favour of a story based campaign. If you want dynamic campaigns you will have to wait for some guy to make one.

Looks great!

Bohemia Interactive Studio are the real creators of Operation Flashpoint. I still have hopes for Operation Flashpoint 2 though.

New complete trailer, similar to the one posted by JBeckman, but longer:
http://next.videogame.it/arma-2/video/2244/#media

Looks better than ArmA, but maybe we'll have the same bugfest... Laughing
Anyway I'm definitely looking forward to it.

The first armed assault should be ignored, I see ARMA 2 as OFP 2 and by the dev diaries alot of optimization tweaks are being applied before it hit its gold status. So im eagerly anticipating it and hopefully it will do everything OFP & ARMA did but better.

What i am looking foward is the ai in the game. Not the graphics. If you are a graphics hore then you can stay away from this game. This game is more about simulating a real battle.

Well in Arma the game focused more on gfx rather than gameplay.

Crossed wires, Bogo was making a personal point, not having a go at people discussing the graphics.

ArmA was probably shipped out to make a few bucks after the split with Codemasters and get their (effectively) new IP out on the market to gain steam for the real sequel and beat Codies to the punch.

Well i agree with you there. But the reason why i bought this game is one to support them and second because it has on of the largest communities out ther devoted to making mods for it. I must say after the patches arma runes quite well and looks decent. Only thing i am hoping for is a better AI which i "HOPE" it will be in arma 2. But i am quite prepare for a lot of bugs in the beginning.
