Graphics problem, there's a known issue with the ATI 1950 cards for some reason if that's the video card you have.
(Unsure if this also applies to the 1800 serie and lower, I guess the game requires shader model 3.0 but the card supports that.)

Yes it's a great and awesome game!.
Notice how you're running out of adjectives to describe the truly fantastic games?, obviously this is a purely subjective approach, but if you continue this way when you meet a game that blows you away you won't be able to describe it in such a way that the description reflects the quality of the game.
What happened to 'good' or 'enjoyable'.

My 360 controller stops working with the game as soon as i start attacking enemies, lol. I also thought the the sound didn't really fit my headphones that well. Like all sounds etc was in my right ear (talking about stuff like the menu sound here). Nowhere to change that either.

What's so bad about the port? It seems fine to me.

I can't say anything bad about the port so far. Hopefully I'm not having any issues with it and the game really looks and runs very good ;D. I love the combat, but that might be just because I use chillstream controller which greatly resembles x360 gamepad Very Happy. 9/10 if you ask me, great game Smile.

Is there any tweak or way to remove the two black bars (top and bottom) on a 16:10 resolutio (1680 x 1050) without fucking up the aspect ratio (IE : artifacts) ? I know there was one with Assassin Creed but i looked around for SH5 and i don't seem to find anything.

I could always play at 720p/16:9 on my HDTV via a DVI -------> HDMI cable and it would fix it but the problem is that i don't have one Laughing for now and VGA/DVI adapters fuck the aspect ratio and there is nothing i can seem to do about it (i get a very small black bar at the top and left side of the screen). It's nothing major but still annoying Sad

A tweak for 16:10 resolutions would be ideal Cool

just completed this. there are 4 or 5 different endings based on 3 choices u make playing the game, which all relate to ppl u meet and how u act with them. i was surprised though that the one choice u would think would get u a good ending doesn't.. the ending i got wasn't that great.

just played a bit more, 2hours... great game, im loving it.

story is interesting, the cut-scenes are well made, decent "puzzles" to break...

for me this game is as good as dead space aka same genre.

8,5/10 game for me.

I didn't have a single issue with the game and other people here mostly said it also ran good for them, so what do you mean by better optimized?

EDIT: O shit I just realized that I fed a troll.

I just had to bump this thread...

I've stayed away from this game because there's no PAL release yet for the 360 and I was afraid the PC version was to buggy. But today, I tried it. No issues for me yet, except that it crashes when I exit the game (which doesn't matter anyway).

When I played through Dead Space back when it was released (and also replayed it quite recently on the PC) I was reminded of how great the Silent Hill series is. I know, Dead Space is in Space and it's different scenery, but still, it's pretty similar in scare techniques. I even told myself that Dead Space was scarier than the Silent Hill games (I have to say though that I only really acknowledge the first three as 'good' SH games while the first two are the excellent ones).

But after playing this one today for a few hours, I'm reminded that Silent Hill is definitely the scariest, most mind fucking game series I've ever played. This "new" one is no different...

Didn't take long for it to scare the shit out of me, had my heart beating rapidly the whole damn time, and every save point was like heaven for me. I definitely feel that Homecoming is more like the first and second Silent Hill than the third and fourth are. At least so far.

So my point with this bump is, to really recommend it to those of you who have played the previous Silent Hill games. Yes, it might be buggy for you, it might not. But it's worth trying. I was a little worried about the controls, but it works great with a mouse and keyboard, feels totally natural, even with the default controls. And if you so want, you can use a 360 controller instead, works fine too, for me at least.

Easily 9/10 for me. But since I've heard of bugs and stuff, I suppose it's more of a 8/10. But the gameplay is great.

*Edit* I'm using the steamrip if anyone wonders.

Thanks, you just pushed me into playing it Smile Its been sitting on my desktop (installed) for a while and now...yep, gunna play. Ty Yondy Smile

I remember those good old days back in 99’ when I was playing Silent Hill 1 on my PS one, later in night with sound maxed. The chills it gave me, god damn it, I miss those nights. I have to say that it won’t be the same again with no other game I’ll play no matter how scary it’ll be.

There was nothing wrong with previous release. There weren't any bugs or crashes so dunno wtf your quote means. It's just vitality has retail DVD file structure and earlier release was steam rip.
