Got to level 6 (the boatin about 5-6 hours yesterday on normal difficulty, couldn't turn the damn game off so I must be enjoying it Razz

So shit, now I'm stuck :/ after you leave the carpark section of the ship, there is a part where you need to scale up the wall ... I get up a few levels but can't figure out where to go from here. guess I'll wait for a walkthrough to turn up, doesn't seem to be any of those yet.

Just got off the boat here without the tiniest issue... Confused
The end of the chapter is pretty cool btw! Smile

I'm enjoying the game so far. It's such a smooth ride once you get used to it. The chases are a blast! Very Happy Music and sound design are pretty awesome too!
The only thing that really bothers me is melee combat. It's just so damn frustrating most of the times... I had to switch to "easy" in the options at chapter 6 when those jumpy fuckers came in the way...

the difference is you got stuck in portal because you needed logic whereas you get stuck in mirrors edge because it gives you no idea what to do and is poorly designed

You just hold the B button and it shows you where to go. I get stuck once in a while to figure out how I can reach the area I have to go to which actually DOES require some thought as you analyze your environment. When you don't know what to do, just look around and use everything you've learned in training and apply it to your environment.

Yeah easyer said then done, this game is at times so frustrating especially in the later chapters its sometimes so unclear where to go even when i use B everytime it just doesnt make sense. Maybe this game isnt for me or maybe this game does suck.

Maybe i'll give it another try when i finished some other games.

The first half of the game is similar to portal but after chapter 4 you get to fight a lot. There are several scenes when you have no other choice but to fight several enemies in a row, no way to outsmart them or use your acrobatic skills to evade them.

I guess it's only a matter of time untiltis gets compared to Assasin's Creed so here are my two cents: both games promise a new sense of freedom in acrobatic movements and the way you as a player handle such complex moves. Both succeed in this area but fall short as a whole. Assasin's Creed was better IMO. It lacked variety but never got in it's own way. The things you did worked well and were fun, they were just too few different things to do.
Mirror's Edge on the other hand has too much bad combat. You can't even block so your only way to react to an enemy attack is a counter, which get ridiculously hard on tougher enemies. The tactic that worked best for me was to 'dive kick' an enemy and then just mash the right trigger as fast as I could. Reminds me of "Prince of Persia: Warrior Within": great acrobatics interrupted by too much bad combat.

Sorry for any spelling and grammer errors, I've had some beers and english is not my native langage Laughing

I finished it without shooting at enemies (got an achievment for that) and some section were a big pain in the ass, especially in chapters 8 and 9. I still liked the game overall but it felt like it could have been much better.

I tried to go through without killing, but screwed up after disarming a cop and forgot to hit Y before mashing the trigger. Ooops.

Combat sucks for this game though. It'd be so much more fun if the difficulty remained in solving the "how to get to point B from point A" puzzles. Playing dodgeball with bullets, especially when the game doesn't give you time to quickly survey your surroundings, is immensly frustrating, and really detracts from the parkour playstyle. When you get into a groove, the game is really rewarding and fun, and then it just BAM stops you dead in your tracks and says "ok, now you get shot at, enjoy!"

Learning curve is good, I'm often left stumped, but you just got to apply what you've learned, and the game does a good job slowly introducing new concepts. I'm finding I use the LB, RB, LB wall leap combo more frequently, and now I find it even links from a wall run, making for some really amazing leaps!

Overall, good game, glad I rented it. Wouldn't buy it though as I just won't go back to playing it once I beat it. Might not even try to beat it, as it's really starting to get complicated (and veeerrry frustrating). I can't really afford to throw my controller through a wall Very Happy

IMO it isn't that hard. First run was on easy and no guns. Second run yesterday with hard difficulty and with guns. Got the both achievements.

One of the best X360 games up to date. I'm usually a FPS and Racing/Flight SIM player, but something in this got me hooked.

I finally finished the game today! I haven't finished an entire game since GTA4 which was months ago. This is such a good game I can't believe some people don't like it.

Yea I actually didn't like the fighting so Im glad there weren't many fights. Usually I just run during a fight which I think the game wants us do.

EA is the biggest pimp in the video games industry so I'm not surprised.

Its because people expect to play a shooter but then they realize its actually a platformer.

Good game but i feel it like some sort of demo.

Like someone said it will be cool if next time game not focuses entirely in parkhour, but actually get a good story and better combat system.

Also locations tends to look a little repetitive.

But anyway i like the art design

Also game looks empty, wish next time comes with more people in street sequences like assasins creed.

exactly my thoughts.. unpolished diamond

however, i have to admit i never believed plattforming would work so well in first person. The "feel" of controlling faith is really great

Okay i finally managed to finish this, nice concept and good music but poorly executed, the controls were not good enough as a result dying for maybe 200 times and the tougher enemy's are (too) hard to disarm and there was not enough music in the game, i liked the end but it was just not enough and the story was too short as well, it took me a lot of patience to finish this game.
It has great potential but it didnt work out. (at least for me)

This game's surprisingly good. I expected some kind of tech demo, something I'd get bored with after an hour, but after four hours it's still alot of fun. Once you're into the flow it's fucking brilliant. The controls are weird at first, but intuitive when you get used to it.

It's how it was in the old days. Frustrating as hell, but extremely rewarding when you do it. This game's not that difficult though, you just have to figure out where to go sometimes. Atleast you have saves in levels these days, I can still remember the hell of replaying an entire level because of fuck ups.
