Ten Things I've Learned From NFS Underground:

1. All the drivers in the game with the exception of yourself (player) are female.

2. The fast lane speed limit is 10 MPH.

3. When you (civilian) see a car rapidly approaching you in your rear view mirror, its best to jam on the brakes and swerve wildly from lane to lane in an attempt to confuse him.

4. Should you (civilian) see a car driving on the wrong side of the highway, the proper course of action is to blink your lights and then rapidly accelerate into him.

5. Should you (civilian) see a mass police chase heading in your direction, DO NOT PULL OVER. Instead, continue driving as if nothing were amiss.

6. When driving on the highway, its best to keep pace with the cars off to your left and right.
In essence, your goal is to create a 10 MPH wall of steel so that other drivers cannot pass.

7. Police are allowed to drive at over 200 MPH on the wrong side of the highway into oncoming civilian traffic - as long as its in pursuit of a bad guy.

8. When a steel billboard falls within 500 feet of your patrol car, your cruisers engine will die.

9. Police helicopters are only fueled up to Bingo fuel before being sent on a high speed chase.

10. Mexican's are now rappers.....

things that annoy me the most so far:

- Bugatti Veyron is no longer one of the fastest cars on the earth, police SUV can overtake you without any problem whilst you're driving over 320kph;

could be more, but that annoys me the most Very Happy

I am running the latest 180.48 nvidia driver and it's choppy as hell.

Either the latest driver is fucked wrt. this game or the game just needs a patch. Or maybe both. Damn, the 180.48 was released YESTERDAY. They should have tested it with, you know, the latest games out there.

You guys should try updating your drivers to the 180.48s and see if the game turns to shit. You can just roll back if it sucks. Very Happy

runs quite okay actually, though it keeps crashing when i try to launch the Transport Job Mission, no obvious Error Message, just an error in NFS.exe, both with darkc0der and Reloaded fix, same results....every other racing mission runs fine though.

Hold on, so they cry there are not enough cores to make one game run properly (Fifa 09), but make another game use only one core? Embarassed

BTW, this used to work with Pro Street as well, so they probably haven't touched the engine.

Laughing = ea, sometimes roflmao even. That fifa fiasco was hysterical and clearly they where lying, I think they where just lazy in both cases and they don't care about the pc as usual so they release unoptimized, unfinished, garbage.

So in fifa 09 pc users had a not strong enough rig or not enough cpu cores as ea stated but now their rig is to strong because they have more than one core Laughing

NFS Underdone does use more than 1 core, at least that seems to be the case for me. Only one core seems to be used when the game starts and maybe during cut scenes but when actually driving around both cores on my X2 are being used to capacity.

It could be "shooting blanks," hence the use of both cores + slowdowns.

I have not been able to start the game without crashing past the profile page and it has been driving my crazy. I found out what the problem was. My #$^%#$@ Saitek keyboard!! There is a post on the official forums that most Vista x64 users with Saitek keyboard get CTD unless they unplug them. I just can't believe how bad EA sucks. If I had actually bought this POS I would be even more pissed that I am now. Mad

While the majority may not like NFS:UC, I actually love it and that's coming from someone who's been playing the NFS series since the very first one back in 1995 or something like that?

The game runs perfectly on my computer, not that many glitches albeit there are some, hopefully they'll be fixed with a patch later on. Anyway, at first I didn't quite like it, however, being the fan of the NFS series that I am, I gave it a go and kept playing it for hours and it actually grew on me and now I'm addicted.

I hated Carbon and ProStreet but this one is quite good, just takes some time getting used to, it actually brings back memories to Hot Pursuit (far better than Most Wanted that everyone keeps blabbing about imho) when driving up in those hills. Hell, I can't recall any of the previous ones having done that, not even Underground although that one was great aswell.

The handling is way off, and is by far the biggest downside, but once and if you can get used to it, the rest is awesome. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

Agree totally up to the part of the handling. I think it's great. You know you can finetune some stuff? Like grip etc.? I also play nfs since it was born.

Yeah, wasn't supposed to turn out like that, haha..

Just can't believe so many people bashing the game, I mean.. cmon! I'm usually with the majority but they're making it sound as if it's the worst game ever? lol

Guess I'll be shot for liking this game. Laughing

Great, atleast I'm not the only one loving the game.. hehe =) Anyway, I'm currently driving the Lancer Evolution and you're right, the tuning feature does improve the handling quite a bit, however, there is plenty of room for improvement.

Another thing. I may just be some old nerd or whatever, but I'm not into the city planning. They're too simplistic and the streets are too wide. More details and smaller streets would be easy to implement and would help make the city look more alive and cool to drive around in.

The way I see it, the best parts of this game are the outer parts such as the rural and suburban areas, the bridges, hills and the interstates. Props to EA for making a huge map btw. Smile

No, we'll just look at you with incredulous eyes and wonder if you installed Most Wanted by mistake or if you live in an alternate dimension where NFS: Understatement actually doesn't suck. My vote goes for the second, it's much more plausible.

Seriously though, if you enjoy the game, good for you. I wish I could. I refused to believe the nay-sayers and the reviews, I was certain those negative scores and remarks came from people that hated Most Wanted (which I loved). When I finally installed it and got into driving I couldn't believe what I was experiencing. I went to the menu and tried to tweak and change settings to:

1. Make if look better, remove the motion blur and post-fx (didn't work, it still looked like a 2002 PS2-title at best)

2. Check the menu's if there's a "make this game feel right when driving"-setting. Couldn't find one.

Finally I gave up, uninstalled it and swore at EA for pushing the poor devs into rushing the title just to replace the relative failure of NFS: PoS. I wish EA would learn from this, but EA is EA and they won't learn.

I loved NFS: Porsche Unleashed, it was the peak of NFS (the fifth one in the series as well). With Underground they changed the format and the style, but I liked it (although the drag-racing stuff wasn't my cup of tea). Most Wanted peaked the style of free-roam and had the best graphics and handling to date. Carbon was the first hint that EA had institutionalized the NFS franchise by putting two teams on the franchise so they could have annual releases, and here we are.
