I'm trying to understand please help. What if I have a 360 that I play on Xbox Live that is not yet flashed. I already installed the update. I can no longer flash it or else I'll be banned? or what?

Also what if I just play original games on XBL and burned games offline? Or alternatively, as long as I play games that are properly stealth patched online I won't get banned?

you can flash
protection is in the dvd firmware
nobody knows, playing game after the retail store release and correctly stealth patched should help
also, microsoft is getting infos while connected to xbox live ... : http://xbins.org/xblive/?view=2008-11-19
dunno if they store it offline then send it back while connected

I wonder if they have the ability to check and see if the content copied from dvd to hd is legit

So I can flash it and play a legit copy online and a burned copy offline no problem right? No risk in that? Just risk in playing a burned copy online?

I have read the thread, where has it been answered clearly? Can someone just answer the question instead of being rude? I'm sorry that I"m not understanding. I just bought a 13 month XBL card one month ago and don't want to be banned.

It stores a copy of everything you do offline and online. The next time you connect, it could send info to Microsoft. As long as your firmware is flashed and you're playing burnt games offline or online, the boogieman is after you.

Are you sure they store the offline information?

Yes.

And NXE doesn't kill Xboxes. They die by themselves.

All 4 of our 360's died right after we rebooted from installing the NXE... so its pretty clear that the NXE is the cause of it. We never had what so ever any problems with our consoles.

I heard that you CANNOT get Avatars or Divx-AVI updates for NXE on a banned console. I heard that the updates are masked to your console and wont work if you get them and put your HD in someone elses box then try to use it on your own, has anyone tryed this?

The codecs don't work on banned consoles. I downloaded the codecs, disconnected from LIVE and it still shows errors when trying to play .avi files. I have always be connected to LIVE when playing .avi files.

That's exactly the same for me, i stream from tversity, but i always needed to be connected to live to play them, otherwise it always asked me to update the codecs if i wasn't connected.. strange

But since i did the latest update and it asked me to update the codecs again, now it plays whether i'm connected OR disconnected to live!! Razz

Cheers for that, have not streamed anything as I just installed VISTAx64 and have not gotten around to install TVersity yet.

Had exactly the same prob as you before the update. Will install TVersity in the week and check it out.

Well I use Tversity myself. So you guys are saying to set it to transcode all the time and I wont need the codecs?? is there any downside to this?? is it going to make my videos look any worse?

you use to have downloaded the codec off of XBL using an account that was native to that 360 (not an account created on one 360, and then recovered onto another). I haven't tested to see if that's changed with NXE or maybe you used an account that's now native to your machine.

Mine got problems since NXE , too. It crashes after a few minutes..no matter what Im doing in the dashboard or trying to start a game...if I want to restart i get the RROD...I can wait several minutes then it works again until the next crash. Im getting a new 360 already flashed with 2 years warranty...if it gets rrod because of nxe i can just send it back...
Maybe NXE in general is causing more heat to the xbox ? However im already using better fans inside and a stand with additional fans...

Ive been completely obsessed with this dashboard ever since it was announced lol. Just now, I purchased some MS points so I can get some of those premium themes for it! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Heres a thread which will help you decide which themes are COOL: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=342627

So far, I only love the Fable theme.
