Well i have to admit (being an ooold fallout fan) im enjoying the game. Yes it lacks sex Sad and is a bit overpowered, super mutants stoped looking super too soon..etc etc.. but i guess beth, altough didnt capture the wicked and dark humour on its fullest, managed to broadcast the fallout world feelling to a lot of players that woud never taste it otherwise. Rolling Eyes

Im level 15 and after wandering the wastes only now decided to go to GNR radio, hehe, just going to do this little bit of story and im of to wandering again Very Happy

i kinda played it similarly (going for the main quest pretty late). The downside is that you ll hit the level-cap pretty soon (20) and that takes some of the fun out of it, because you dont have new perks to look forward to. Exploring is still fun though and you can get companions and bobbleheads and some nice side-quests that way, so it was still fun being capped at 20.

edit: dogmeat died for me, when i did the GNR quest, because he ran off somewhere and i couldnt find him until it was too late Shocked Sad

I think there is already a mod out there that let you reach level 30 but then i'm pretty sure that you would be overpowered.

I am doing pretty much the exact same thing as you (doing side quests first and main quest after. I have hired Charon who is now dead and i would like to kn ow where Dogmeat is exactly ? I have explored quite a lot but i don't think i have ever meet him.

Super mutant gets raped badly with combat shotgun + a maxed out Sneak to the point where it become too easy Razz

Yeah, the game is pretty easy after a while. With Fat Man and Minigun you are pretty unstoppable.

I'm really disappointed that there is so little side quests. And the world as whole feels too empty. I understand that the wastelands should be deserted but when you go to Rivet City, there is like 20 ppl max.

Maybe I'm wrong but F2 had a different feeling.

Alright thanks Smile

Will try to find him ASAP. I just hope that you don't need to be a bad karma character to get him because otherwise i'm fucked. Habitually i pretty much always play evil characters in my first walkthrough (in games that you can be good or bad) but this time i decided to be a good guy for a change. Of course i blast innocent civilians heads from time to time and i steal some stuff but it doesn't seem to be enough to overshadow all my good deeds Razz

This is because you can bet that they are planning one or more expension.

It's too obvious.

In the expansion they add the annexed canada and the commonwealth.
Thats just a very safe assumption.

It's part of that ear perk I believe, same with the cabin next to the place being part of the finger perk.
(Bit outside Scrapyard itself actually and it's the opposite of that ear collection perk, - can take both though and collect a nice amount of bodyparts for a decent amount of bottlecaps.)

theres two perks-one called lawman or something, you kill enemies/take their ears to prove you have killed them (raiders an alike) and get caps for it,there one for bad guys too...called contract killer, you kill people and take a finger from them, and get caps from someone....

Sorry for that crappy explanation, basically you get a note about a location where you will meet a certain person once you take one (Or both) of those perks.

I previously read about the locations where these NPC's where located so it seems the location is unlocked once you have the actual perk though you can still find the area without it but can't enter.

Pretty cool actually that most major factions or groups are set up like that, Talon company also has a base (And a leader) that can be raided and the same goes for Enclave, Outcasts and regular BoS troops and even the Super-Mutants.
(EDIT: Most are part of the main-story though, Talon is a bit special and BoS doesn't seem to care that I shot everyone including the leader himself at the Outcast's main base.)

I clocked 65+ hours and there were probably still small quests I missed. There were tons to do. Confused

Silly reason actually, guy also trades power armor and some sensor "junk" item, had a few standard power armors (Different types, seems I stack up on all sorts of items in various containers.) so I gave him one of them for some anti-rads (If you manage to strike a deal with him you can choose between ammo - 556, stimpacks or anti-rads) but the guy tossed his old black/red outcast suit and equipped the new BoS suit (Same stats so perhaps that was why.) and it looked so out of place I put him down.
(And everyone else, only three named BoS outcasts there though.)

Also got a lot of interesting items and data from the various storage rooms and terminals and the all (in)-famous missile launcher (Called "Miss-Launcher") there, pretty good damage but as it name implies it fires duds. (They still explode but it's more like a grenade launcher with really short range, dangerous to use but way deadlier than a standard rocket-launcher.)

Guess he only found the "sidequests tied to main quest" im still exploring with leisure have lotes of places in the map that i didnt go...The map could be bigger and the level cap too..but little side quests ? i cant say that. Besides the expansion should bring NCR, but canada would be great.

Milk and improve it baby !. Ill play it Very Happy

You should all source the Fallout 3 Prima Guide (pdf, 468 pages, 124mb). You could spend a month just trying to aquire all the "unique" items. "The Terrible Shotgun" (combat shotgun) and "Vengence" gatling laser teh shiz.Very Happy

Oh yeah and this is pretty cool and may also be of use ;

I've found several of those by now (Including "Vengeance" in that "temple"), checked the Fallout3.ESM file and I'm still missing quite a few not to mention that I've barely found any unique armor pieces either. (Found the Medic Power Armor so far, somewhat useful and referred to as "Morphine Power Armor" in the ESM file itself, Shock Trooper armor also sounds interesting and is a unique suit of Tesla Power Armor with helmet.)

Most however are just a bit more damage dealing than the non-unique variant but there are a few exceptions such as "Ol' Painless" being a bit faster or "Miss Launcher" firing duds instead of rockets or the "MIRV" which works as a cluster bomb.

Damage by the way is calculated as a average so shot-per-shot a minigun won't do that much damage, noticed that while using the FAL modification as the weapon reported 257 damage whereas it's only a bit better than the Assault Rifle in actuality.
(Been using a few custom weapon modifications instead of the standard gear as of lately such as the Deagle, FAL and the Valhalla / They're available via the Fallout3NEXUS website.)

EDIT: Heh, now that was a weird place.
