Actually it might be SecuRom fucking with the game...
Ive had that problem with TDU...

FRAPS gave up for some reasons so I couldn't take any other screens, game runs at between 20 to 35 FPS with the following settings, currently only at the appartment (Which unlocked a achievement.) so I can't say much about the game.

(Couldn't increase view distance higher as the resource manager started flashing red, will fix the config file manually if possible but it's pretty fine where it is, not that many options to be honest though.)

Activation wasn't a problem but you also need the disc in the drive, planning to test to create a image of it via DT Pro to avoid using the actual disc but we'll see how that works out.

EDIT: There's plenty of other screens though so not much of a issue.
(Game looks fine to me by the way but not exactly top of the line, nice view distance though and other things like that such as car and pedestrian density makes up for those small things and the visuals aren't all that important if the game itself is fun to play.)

Intel QX 6800 (@3Ghz but with 400FSB)
ASUS Maximus Extreme X38 (Bit old by now but still kicking.)
4 GB DDR3 OCZ 1800 (At 400 FSB these run at 1600 but lower timings.)
ATI 4870X2 (Upgraded recently from the outdated 2900XT, test with Crossfire)
Asus Xonar D2X (Drivers could be better but the card is solid and sound quality great.)
Toughpower 1000 watt powersupply. (Good system needs a lot of power, this'll be plenty.)

EDIT: I'll get some other screens then, plus I'll avoid Imageshack, it's changed a bit so sometimes it times out or won't display the images properly.

I think this system proves this game is just coded badly, and it's not the lack of a quad core CPU that makes it run bad.

Anyway , did i just read that there is no way to use AA , even if forced ??! Please let not this be true......unless jaggies are less apparent than the consoles versions but somehow i doubt it Sad. An i wasn't worried about my specs (E8400 , 9800GTX , 4 GIG Ram) but now i don't know since i keep reading that it runs like shit on rigs slightly better than mine , Embarassed

This is nothing new. Since early screenshots, Rockcrap has been showing how bad their port works with AA. They even had to blur their first screenshots just to hide the fact there was no AA.

Well , San Andreas was a pretty decent port and supported in game AA so i had hope for GTA IV. On the bright side , it look slightly better than the visual blurred and aliased mess that are the consoles version but vthen again the pre release screenshots of the 360/PS3 versions looked better than the actual games so i shouldn't be too excited i guess. Sad

People from all over the world report that they can activate and play. So the known release groups must be working on it I suppose...

Well you're somewhat right about this.
Quote:

I think this system proves this game is just coded badly, and it's not the lack of a quad core CPU that makes it run bad.

However ATI has no profile for the game in their current drivers so ATI CCC or rather Catalyst AI for it can't detect the game (As there's no profile.) which basically disables it and means my card only uses one GPU at the moment.
(Crossfire scaling varies though, might be everything from a 10% gain to a 100% gain depending on what drivers can do, same with SLI but NVIDIA fares a bit better as they probably have the game profiled already in the latest 180.60 or 180.70 beta drivers.)

Ofcourse performance could also be better with more optimizations as you say. Smile

EDIT: By the way pressing "P" blurs the screen a bit like a depth-of-field filter.

EDIT: Blur comparison. (Whatever it is.)

EDIT: Normal screens.

(Strange leaf filtering, seen on several "flat" or 2D surfaces like cables, lines and so on.)

Main thing I notice is the lack of AA and what the developers used instead, that sorta fuzzy filter effect seen on those leaves and other distant objects, can't seem to force it either but it would probably cause a hefty performance hit if it worked.

I don't know what's worse: whether Rockstar let that dithered messy pixelated crap go through their QA process, or if it's actually intentional from their part.

Either way, Rockstar:
