Just bought it, primarily because I cant be bothered faffing with the protection, wobbly screens et al.
All I have to say is "Chargeback". How these idiots think they are going to waste everyone's time with this nonsensical, draconian protection and then, when you get past that you are greeted with a game that runs like crap.
C2Q 6600 @ 3.6
GTX 280
8 Gigs
etc etc
24 FPS even at medium detail.
Sorry Wankstar*, keep your BS game. Ill wait for the crack and play it for free. And these idiots wonder why we pirate their beta crap.

If it makes you feel any better, check out the social club website. Its either down, slow as hell, or gives errors when you try to navigate it. The people trying to play multiplayer must be going through hell

I just went to Windows Firewall and unchecked the exception for RSGC. Works fine for me in Vista 64. And to whoever said uninstall Vista, just hush. Don't turn this into an OS flamewar.
You don't have to register to the Social thing. I just skip login when I start the game. Works fine. I can save and everything.

Yep, you need updated GFWL to play. You can use an offline profile. Or a normal profile in offline mode.

Sigh, it's not complicated. Just run the Games for Windows Live updater. Takes about 20 seconds.

didn't realize there was a paul.dll in the offline activation folder and i got the drunk cam. so i replaced that paul.dll unplugged my net connection just to be sure and the game runs perfectly. been playing for over 3 hours and no problems.

well , i try it .
after many test on nvidia control panel / rivatuner tweak ... it's seem that the poor / bad / artefact /missing texture etc .. of GTAIV is most due of a Realy bad driver ( nvidia here).
with 4 different preset :
-Sometime , no texture .. just light (lol) max fps
-Sometime 10 fps with bug .
-somteime 40 fps with bug.
-somteimte 25 with bug .. etc etc
So I wait for a new good nvidia driver...to enjoy this fkg game !!!

Its probably both ATI and Nvdia driver issues causing the lagness in this game afterall.

gettin the camera wobble. first i renamed the file, then deleted it. If the game wobbles, im not gunna buy it this weekend/tomorrow
EDIT
NM. Like the guy said above you need to run the Games for Windows Live Updater
found here
http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US/Support/Pages/technicalIssuesGuide.aspx
no wobble after that, no renaming of file
Gunna see if I can get to the store tomorrow to buy it. If not, definetly on the weekend. PS3 is to much of a hassle for me and I want the MP. So rockstar makes another sale...buying the game twice...lol
And it looks way better on my comp as well

TEMPORARY SOLUTION TO WOBBLY CAM PROBLEM: Go into the game settings and choose benchmark. Let it load and after it starts running the test press 'esc' and exit the benchmark. It will load the game and you shouldn't get the drunk niko problem anymore.

God damn what a load of crap this port is. Now I'm real glad I didn't invest 35 euros for this shit. It looks pretty awful even on everything highest and still plays like a turd in everything set to lowest possible.
I know I only have a decent enough system (X2 4800+, HD3850 512MB, 3GB DDR2) to play the newest games, but examble, Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, Dead Space and many others are playing great enough (for me at least) on 1024x768 with everything maxed + 2 AA (AA for games that support it anyway) and 8xAF and are getting minimum of 30+ fps all the time. But noooooo, with GTA i'm getting maximum of 22 fps everything on lowest.
I thing R* spend most of their resources to their brand new "uncrackable" protection and forgot to clean up the actual game code. Maybe there's still a small chance of getting some patching done by R*, but I thing that's just day dreaming...
