(xbox user and pc user together)

I found something in gtaIV.exe.cfg.
<enableCrossPlatformSystemLink>false</enableCrossPlatformSystemLink>

CrossPlatformsystem link, wtf that would be cool Smile

no. hamachi don't work with windows live games. just u can only hope to get it working with old keys or an online tool removing the live crap like for gears of wars (hamachifix on gamecopyworld)

well, the game does have lan mode, i didn't try it, i could just access it without going on gwfl, so i guess it should work.. right?

Wow, really crappy performance. No way I'm playing this in its current state.. I have already completed it once, on 360. Even if I turn everything down, it still runs terrible. With updated drivers and everything.

Running all the other latest games just fine. Oh well, ->

runs fine for me.... i think pc gamers are just to fussy tbh.

I was expecting the worst when installing this game after hearing some of the comments..

People need to understand that although the graphics are not on par with crysis theres alot going on in the game with it been a huge open world game.

Im getting 30-40fps on[ my 8800gt 512mb although im playing at 1280 by 1024.

Still looks decent and is playable.

Some of you need to come off your high horse..

texture quality medium
render quality high

i was totally expecting horrible performance and was completely surprised by it just not being there.

i'm playing at 1680x1050 8x AA 16x AF high quality textures forced from ATI control panel, latest drivers. in game settings are medium texture high rendering don't recall the others. no stuttering what so ever. played for about 20 minutes and drove all around looking for any low-fps moments - none to be found.

4gb DDR1066
Velociraptor 300gb 10,000rpm HD

maybe it's just my rig but i'm having no issues at all. glad i waited until a working crack was out and didn't bother with the 500 other non-working ones lol

Funny, I almost have the same setup as you, and it runs like crap. Not riding any high horses or anything, it really does, even with everything on low. Probably something messing up on my end then. Cheers.

Are the shadows really supposed to look like a million pixels like in the screenshot???!!!!

 Spoiler:

EDIT: The benchmark does NOT have those ugly-ass shadows. In fact, the benchmark looks twice as nice as the game itself even if I max everything out. And performance is way better in the benchmark than it is in the game itself with same settings... Rolling Eyes

Its a joke. There is a video on youtube where someone had a graphical error that resulted in no reflections. This person had FRAPS running and when the reflections were gone, he was getting 600 fps. The high FPS probably could have resulted from many things, not just the reflections. Anyway the game would've been unplayable as it looked in the video.

CPU benchmark, game is pretty demanding and low clock-speeds will really limit performance.
(Single core will also hamper it quite a bit.)

EDIT: Seems AA can be forced with the .84 drivers now. Smile

Oh well, I've already planned to get a quad core CPU as my next upgrade (Q9xx0-CPU). However, I believe GTA IV is ridiculously unoptimized.

Game runs quite fine here

Q9450 @ 3.0GHz
2x8800GT in SLi (SLi not used yet)
8GB DDR2 800

new drivers didnt net any performance increase, but game runs between 30 and 50 fps, and plays quite smooth.

Sure your graphics cards aren't top of the line and even more so if SLI isn't properly utilized but if it didn't run well with that hardware the game would really be the most unoptimized title ever.

Very strange. We have fairly comparable systems (you have a slightly faster CPU and higher clocked RAM, I have a faster Radeon with more RAM, both running Vista x64).
