Patch coming in the next few days

Rockstar have just revealed on our forum that a patch for GTA IV PC is due to be made available in the next few days. Here is what they had to say:
Driver News
We’re pleased to announce that in co-operation with Nvidia a new driver has been released that improves performance and fixes a major issue with 7900 series cards. If you haven’t gotten the driver yet download it here: http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_gtaiv_downloads.html
ATI has also agreed to officially release Catalyst 8.12 which will release on Dec 10th from http://game.amd.com. Expect significant performance improvements when using this new driver.
Patch Is On The Way
We are working on making a patch available in the next few days. Since Grand Theft Auto IV is a Games For Windows – Live game the patch must be certified by Microsoft before release. The patch is already at Microsoft and we expect a speedy approval. The patch contains a variety of fixes including:
• A fix to the crash after legal screen that some German customers were reporting.
• Numerous improvements to the video editor: Smarter naming of videos, improved rendering quality, better fx during replays
• Fix to bowling while using certain sensitive mice
• Fix for ATI 1900 shadows
• Overall savings to memory
• Graphic improvements to particle systems and mirrors
• Multiplayer character settings are preserved
• Support for DirectInput controllers. Note: The current hack way of supporting these controllers may not work with the improved functionality. So we recommend you remove the hack before upgrading to the patch.
Issues with power management software have also been fixed (slow speed, double speed issues). Even after the patch comes out setting power management software to maximum performance is recommended. We’ve seen cases where power management software does not detect the game is running and puts the CPU in green mode.
Besides the patch we’ve also improved the way the Social Club handles data this should have greatly reduced or eliminated the Mma10 error. If you are still receiving this error after logging in and out of Social Club we would like to know as much info as you can about it.

runs ok here. Last night it was sluggish, then i used the txt file to adjust settings, then it wasnt sluggish anymore but just slow...today i tried the game and it runs great... so i upped the settings again and it still runs well...awesome and fun game !! love how the cars handle.
Will the new driver from nvidia help even more?

is it normal I get 42fps in the benchmark on a C2D E6600@3.5Ghz + 8800 GT ?
This in 1280x1024 + textures quality high & render quality very high and depth field 25 + far distance details = 37
Not that i'm complaining, but i think it's quite good

I heard that you get way more FPS in benchmark than playing, haven't done it myself though.

I did a Fraps test and Fraps gives the same benchmark a much lower average fps. Apparently Rockstar rigged the benchmark to provide much higher results than what you get in reality.
Statistics
Average FPS: 43.44
Duration: 37.59 sec
CPU Usage: 63%
System memory usage: 53%
Video memory usage: 96%
Graphics Settings
Video Mode: 1680 x 1050 (60 Hz)
Texture Quality: Medium
Render Quality: Very High
View Distance: 38
Detail Distance: 10
This was my benchmark yet I get anywhere from 22-35 during the game. I only get over 40 inside a building. Fraps went from 25 to 40 during the benchmark and the end result was 31. A 12fps difference with the benchmark in GTA4. It's totally unreliable and I get a feeling that the reason for this is that they start the benchmark while it's still loading (which makes the fps jump up in Fraps as well) which totally skews the benchmark.

I have huge FPS drop with loader. New iNvidia driver dont help much. Any suggestions ?

i Have C2D E6750 2.66, 8800GT 1GB, 3GB of RAM, playing on 1024x768, graphics quality-medium, rendering-high, view distance- 60, quality distance- 50-55, shadows-3...and i have in city, with traffic, lot of cars, about 20-25 FPS,...is this normal, it should be more,...VGA drivers are 178...using the crack from "FUCKTHESCENE"...anrivirus is turned off...

Lower distances and update to newer drivers + fedor loader increases my FPS so much. I'm at High, very high around 15-20 on distances rest max with 30-45 fps.
Q6600, 880GTS 512 and 2 gb ram.

haw to use m own songs in game, i copied in user music, set radio station on independent, but it's not playing, and how to chane songd, in option it says "b" and "n", i press b or n but the sings wont change...help?

You gotta scan in audio options. And put -novblank in a .txt file called commandline in GTA folder.

this.txt file commandline, there is no one in gta4 folder, so i gues i must create him or...sorry for this maybe stupid questions:)
