I got the same vid card, and its playable for me.
(pff wish i still had 3850)
Dint notice any differences with the razor crack!
Some spots my framerate goes down to 16 (highway @ fullspeed)
I use there settings:
800x600 (yeah low but still looks good, but my card cant handle more) 640x480 will get some more frames tho 
Textures Medium,
AAF : High
Visual Distance : 5
Detail distance : 25
car dens : 50
Shadow : 0
Q6600/Club3D 4890/2GB DDR2/WiN7\XP/1.5 TB/23 Inch LCD

so far im pretty underwhelmed by gta4, i seem to remember sa being alot more fun. im not that far into it though (just past when you get access to the internet cafe, and landed myself a 4 star wanted level for trying to access illegal porn -.- )

is it me or is driving the helicopters complete bullshit? I'm near the end (no names mentioned)  Spoiler: | where you have to fly the "gunship" helicopter and try to stay up with the other helicopter (You have to fly this bullshit through Man-Fucking-Hattan) |
I've mapped the controls 3 times and...its impossible...fuck it, at least i wont be finished with the game before the patch comes out, of course after that (assuming there is 0 performance increase) this shit is going to be collecting Cyber Dust sitting in my Steam list under "Not Installed"

well in that case its not the port its prob end user and the os/drivers or lack of.
8800gtx card here and my dual is running at ur clock speeds lol, runs flawless for me all high, the max texture settings i used and didnt see any diff in appearance lol so put them back down to high incase it was stressing anything for no reason..

Yes that is my rig, dont know what is wrong, latest drivers etc.. well i have readed anyways something that for some this works flawlessy and for some it doesnt work at all, gief patch!

Don't talk shit please. This game is very odd in how it performs. For some people 25-35fps is NOT acceptable with a top end rig such as his. I get about that as well (and don't believe the benchmark, it's useless and jacks up the average fps by at least 10). It's got fuck all to do with drivers or the OS but everything to do with how badly optimised the game is. It relies heavily on the CPU instead of the graphics card. I can jack up all the detail and I don't get a single fps less which shows it's the CPU that is the bottleneck and a Q9300 (mine) is a pretty powerful one.

Really so your saying the game that people buy or download is diff for everyone lol please, seriously though, your mention that it relies heavily on the cpu yet your saying you got a nice powerful quad core there, and yet I run with no issues on a e6600 ?
Oh and to burst your bubble I can deselct one of the cores and still play it perfectly well lawl. GTA IV is not the high end fest game one is led to believe period... Infact its not very different from anyother GTA releases.. If bloom switched off via dat files is helping alot of people that says something about the users setup to me not a game issue. Plenty of people play this game with no problem im sure of that, you only ever here the small few complaining.. And im sure most of those complaining are 12 year olds on mommy and daddys pc's installing on a rig that the parents have no idea how to maintain or setup for anything other than email and faxes lol..
