Cat 8.12 drivers should come out on dec 10
Does anyone know when the patch for the game is supposed to come out?
both are promising to improve performance.
Also, careful: vsync makes the game unplayable for me 4870x2 here... i get like random black artifacts and shtufff..

Few days, they finished the patch, only few tests and we'll get it.

This game is awesome.
I don't understand those numbers in the graphics options. They're meant to be my video card memory usage, but I'm playing it way over the limit and it runs great. I'm afraid my video card will blow up any moment, but the temperature is great too.
Why GTA!? WHY you want to confuse me!?

Yeah, it stuttered like hell for me too with 2GB. I bought another 4 yesterday, but I'm still downloading the ISOs (again) to see if the extra RAM would help or it's just the bad coding.
Funny how the consoles have 256MB RAM and there is no stutter (and from what I've seen, the textures on the PC version are not that higher than my friend's PS3 version).

I don't know, this game runs fine on my 2gb quad core 6600 and 8800GT.
I think anything below quad core is gonna be iffy with frame rates. Finally!! a game that made me glad to have a quad.

runs ok here for me too. perfectly playable.
Im using AMD 64x2 4200, BFG 8800GTX, 4gb ram.
only problem i have is that after playin for a while, the leaves on trees and bushes go square..big green squares....weird!
How do i turn off the Video capture in game as i read on last page that turning it off increases fps.
I am not using 180.84 drivers.... im using the latest official drivers, think its 180.48
Intel Core2 Quad Q8300
Asus P5N-E SLI
Asus ENGTX 480
4GB 6400

I believe NVIDIA improved SLI support with the 180.84 drivers and Crossfire is reported to work since 8.11 (Currently using 8.12 RC3, waiting for the final version which is set to be released December 10th so hopefully the game patch will be released soon as well.)
(Some people also reports success with forcing AA.)
I don't actually notice a difference when disabling Crossfire though (ATI 4870X2 card, disabling catalyst AI.) but the game isn't being limited by my GPU that much in the first place though I do expect ATI to improve performance a bit in the final 8.12 or perhaps rather the 9.1 drivers.
I do however only expect minor memory improvements for the patch and no actual performance increases due to how the engine works and how it's renderer is set up.
(Based on that previous interview quite bit is tied to resolution or whatever they said, things like reflection quality and shadows and aside from resolution which apparently controls quite a bit like that you can only alter detail quality which supposedly works like AF and texture quality plus a few view distance sliders and a shadow density slider.)
Game uses RAM like crazy and severely limits nearly all CPU's on the market.
(Seen from that PCGamesHardware benchmark, probably improved by lower view distance to reduce the amount of activity in the game such as pedestrians and cars.)
EDIT: Oh and as the game uses this "deferred shading" method (Or deferred lighting, perhaps it was called that?) don't expect proper AA solutions (Like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. or most UE3 titles, some of those do have other workarounds though and others use DX10 to solve it like Gears of War)
It also uses that dithering technique so shadows and objects can look a bit pixelated.
(Pressing P for post-processing helps but I haven't found any balanced values yet from editing visualsettings.dat so the entire screen blurs instead of just the distant objects.)

Yes, shame they didn't implement the blur effect only for distant views, while keep the closer ones clear. :\ Could have been much nicer.

Let's hope some simple .ini tweak or mod will fix that..

Yeah me neither, i have the same card as you (4870). and i also did that -norestrictions as you. and it says like 1760 / 490 somewhere close to that..
Everything maxed out and 1600 x 1200.
Game runs verry smooth, no stutters.
I have ati 8.11 driver.
No problems at all after 45 min of play.
Dont forget to put out that option so you can vieuw back in time for 10 minutes (forgot what its called), it takes away a great amounth of ram usage.

I have an original here from a friend of mine
It has a key on the booklet. But when do I use this?
I installed everything and used razors fix, but didn't had to use a key.
Is this for the rockstar club? or maybe a key fo windows live?
Can I go onlinewith his copy without harming his accounts or whatever
