Clean install + patch + razor crack = GTAIV fatal error WS10
As mentioned above if you get this just install the patch again afterward and it works fine.

I have no issues running with the latest patch and Razor's loader.

Try Fed0r, because Razor also replaces gtaiv.exe, fed0r does not.

Or just use the LaunchGTAIV.exe/1911.dll and keep the official, patched, GTAIV.exe.

I wish they'd have implemented an "X360/PS3" mode .. where you could have the game looking EXACTLY like the consoles (texture detail/size and view distance, etc) for those that can't run the higher-end PC style.
Putting the game on LOW makes the textures look like blurry, colourful, smudges -- putting them on HIGH gives us 2048x2048 size monstrosities. Medium just looks like less blurry LOW.
Why couldn't Rockstar have done something better?

I've got the 360 one, which is why I refuse to play the PC version with low settings in order to get a playable/smooth framerate. The 360/PS3 versions aren't exactly Crysis-like, but they sure as hell look a lot better than the PC does at Low/Med settings.

Seems the game forgets certain achievements at times, not like you lose any progress or anything but still annoying when you're trying to complete some of them.
(Thankfully none of them were mission related so pretty easy to regain, lost two cop related ones though that I still need to retake, survive 5 minutes against a six-star wanted level and escape from a four star wanted level.)
I don't notice the majority of changes but the patch has improved memory handling a bit so I managed to up view distance further and it doesn't seem to have affected performance that much (Perhaps it's been improved a bit as well.)
Having fun in the game, completed quite a few missions and finally unlocked all areas, stole a T-Shirt on "happiness island" but forgot to enter the actual statue. (Need a helicopter anyway though.)
Also found my first glowing dove or whatever it was supposed to be, unsure what the purpose of killing them is though.
Only downside is that I don't pay much attention to the "buddies" you get so I often lose reputation with them as I don't "hang out" with them.
(Trying to improve it though but driving like crazy across half the map just to meet a deadline which is vaguely "one hour" is pretty demanding.)

Haven't used the taxi service but doesn't it deduct time even if you skip the actual travel animation. (Similar to the trains.)
(EDIT: I did try to take one after drinking with Kate but as expected Nico kicked the driver in the face and stole the entire car after opening the door.)
Pretty sure it was only five minutes but it does take a while to build up six stars unless you move into a restricted area early in the game, also very easy to escape from as you just need to enter your apartment and sleep for a while.
That thing I killed was a white bird with a orange glow under it, it did mention something about "only 199 rats to go" when I killed it though.
Hope that explains it better, good game though albeit it can probably also be a bit repetitive, especially for those who've already completed most of the game on the X360 or PS3 consoles.
(With some more patches and improved display drivers it could be even better in terms of gameplay and performance, AA would be nice as well if possible but would certainly kill performance on most hardware.)
