No matter what excuses people put out, even "reputable" hardware sites like HardOCP, it still all just boils down to the game being a lousy, lousy port. No doubt they'll blame piracy on poor sales too.

but i agree, it runs like shit, its a shitty port. syco mentioned before it's running on an integrated emulator - even that being a joke, it'd be the most logical explanation:d

If Mr Shaman was right, then the best thing we could hope for from GTAIV-PC .. is someone reverse engineering the emulator and allowing us to start playing 360 games on our PCs ^_^

Found this on the gamefaqs forum regarding the console equivalent settings:

I consider my system high end. Patch didn't increase performance at all. I specifically did before and after benchmarks and FPS was EXACTLY THE SAME. |
I only got a slight fps gain (3-5) but its runs completely fine and i was gettin good fps before as it.
The next patch will adress fps issues dude

I dunno man. Read the GTAForums and you might get your answers.
And its not a emu in the traditional sense. Its built for the game. So they didnt have to create everything from scratch i guess. They imported a buncha shit and then only did what they had to do to make it a PC game
Its not like its a emu where you can play any xbox or ps3 game in it. Its specific for GTA.
Again, thats what Ive read and if you read the GTAForum (be prepared to spend 2-3 hours doing so), all the technie ppl rip the game apart.
Im just relaying what ive read as everyone should know, Im no hardcore technie |

Legit bud. I was just gunna get the pirated (actually I did lol) but I wanted MP right and MP for Ps3 (have the PS3 version) sucks and the way my room is setup, its a fuckin HUGE pain in the ass to hook up my PS3 to the net and I have to play around with the my comp settings and shit.
Figured id buy the game for PC.
You know what really fuckin bothers me tho? And Im gunna email Rockstar cuz of this (I dont usually do shit like that).
They SOLD OUT. The Lost and Damned content being released in feb (i think feb) is ONLY available for the 360....BULLSHIT. I have 2 copies of the game and still dont get the extra content...and its not like you cant download content on the PS3.......

I dont pretend to understand it, im not a technie kinda guy, but from what i gather, it is true. That way they could release it for the holidays instead of making it essentially from scratch for the pc..... |

Well, if its a cracked patch then yes.
If its the official patch for the legal version, i dont think it will work (could be wrong tho). Or it may screw things up even more man.
Cuz the only way I know to get the patch is to sign on to windows live while on the main screen of GTA and it downloads auto.
Plus, before you patch, you need to install a GFWL (Games For Windows Live) update.
So far, I havent seen a cracked patch. I'll check for ya tho.

Sorry dude, no crack for the patch. The patch changes the version of the exe to 1.0.1.0 or something like that and if it was out there, i would have found it.
Still, it may work. Try it. Worse that can happen is that you'll have to reinstall GTA |

look at ReadMe.txt in the main folder - did it change v1.00 to v.101 or sth else on top?
