God I hate that fat fuck Gabe.

You know, he stole my idea for HL2? I asked him via e-mail "if you fall onto a wooden box, will it collapse". He responded yes. THEN LOW AND BEHOLD AS YOU GET OUT OF TRAIN STATION YOU FALL ONTO BOX THAT COLLAPSES". He completely ripped my idea. He won't admit it though, i doubt it anyway.

EITHER WAY, I didn't hack Valve.

P.s Europeans always get fucked by the money sucking willies in the entertainment markets.

In all seriousness though, I'm still really pissed with Valve at the moment. It should be ILLEGAL what they've done to Europe.

Make sure you do something about it, like never ever buying something from them again, and telling your friends to never buy off steam as well. Wink

No worries about that, mate. I will NEVER buy anything off Steam again (and I've bought plenty in the past)

I don't care if they lower the prices now, they've fucked me for the last time.

I'm sorry, but what are you on about? Do you understand it? The Dollar has tanked against the euro in the past few weeks and is now at more or less the same point that it was at the beginning of the year.....Even your graph shows this.

How bout that "tanking dollar" ?

"Dollar Posts Biggest Daily Gain in 2 Months vs. Euro "

The U.S. dollar posted its largest daily gain in almost two months against the euro Friday, after traders said the greenback's slump earlier this week may have been overdone.

That's why shit talking about currency value is fucking dumb..

Agreed, currencies are bouncing all over the place at the moment.

However, my initial comment was purely a responce to you stating that the euro has lost a significant value against the doller and many other currencies thia year, which simply is not true. And, it is certainly no-where near, and has not been near, a $1 - €1 ratio. Therefore, in my opinion what Valve is doing is entirely unfair.

"A few people"?

Bullshit SpykeZ... you seriously think Europeans are going to pay DOUBLE for games? No. There will be some idiot morons who continue to buy, but most won't.

No one will buy check the steam pissed of forum. I think it is very unethical that a digital download costs more than a boxed version right now Confused it should be the other way around especially in this age.

I don't think you understand the seriousness of this. Europe is the second largest if not the largest market on Steam. Besides Europe and North America there isn't any market, just a bunch of 3rd world countries mostly with a few scattered customers here and there.

Well that's what people get for wasting money on some flimsy digital download service. I'd never trust a program to hold all my games that could be wrongly banned or needing a 3rd party service to run it.

Hell I don't even like the fact that I have to have steam on just to fuckin play left 4 dead. "Game unavailable, game connecting, game syncing" bullshit. Game unavailable? no it's fuckin not, I paid for it, it's installed, shut the fuck up and start.

Got the game retail and all I got was a disk in a case with a quick button reference card. That's it.

So really, fuck valve. Their turning into EA/Ubisoft anyways. Their just riding out their popularity now and it all shows in their decisions made for L4D

Europe, Germany especially, has also the largest PC market while the USA is more console oriented. This could hit Steam hard if gamers boycot it, but I doubt anything that massive will happen.

The only reason I bought the games off of steam before was because there was because of the conveniance of not having to go out and physically buy it but just download and install. After the much higher prices I'd rather get more and pay less.

I don't get it either, it's so much eaiser getting a bad rep than building up towards a really good one. They're just shooting themselves in the foot here. :S

Maybe I should start buying popular games and selling the accounts or gift to Europeans for 75% of what they would pay for. Smile

I don't see every Valve game using horrible DRM that fucks over the customers. I also don't see them making horrible games.

Isn't Steam just as 'bad' as other DRM since it requires internet/autentication/external app etc.?

Steam is fucking over everybody. Why should digital downloads cost as much and even in some cases MORE than a boxed version where there's tons of added cost for physical material, manufacturing, handling, shipping etc.? The answer is really simple, the publisher/developer want the same revenue whether it's digital download or boxed. Valve spends money on building a site, prepare storage, streaming and handling and support, retailers do the same with the physical product.

In other words, the logic is all there, it's just a different logic than consumers use. We compare prices based on product. Obviously we think the physical product has more value than a mere digital download since there's the packaging, printing and all that.

OT, but even HL1 had the feature that boxes broke when you fell on them, it was needed in one scene (and even the tutorial i believe) to avoid taking damage.

Not really. Compare Steam to what GTA4 uses. Besides, Steam is a great program.

Why is Steam a great program though?

It may be a nice service for buying games online but its DRM can be just as bad as SecuROM.

Actually its technically worse... the games on steam if they are a 3rd party game still have any DRM intact and then your mixing it with steams crap as well.

As for steam being a good program or not it sure the hell took a long time to become a decent one. Of course it use to take way less ram in the past if I recall correctly.
