Aye, I know GTA4 prefers Quads .. but I still shouldn't be getting this constant stuttering ingame.

well if the bench says it 100% cpu loaded then you no what the problem is
my q6600 is arround 60, 80 loaded

Just give up man, I don't find the effort you've put into making it work worth it. I can't stand the shadows and overall effects of a crappy port. For those that want to play this game stick to the console versions for a frustration free experience.

shadows are the same pixelfest on close up on consoles too , you just don't notice it due to TV
same as MGS2 water

Can't you just fool the game into running in "Vista" or "XP" compatibility mode?
(Unless you need to have some specific service running as well, heard Server 2008 has quite a few of them disabled by default.)

yeah i tried that. compatibility mode only has xpsp2 and when i set that mode on the gta4.exe it give an error and that error refers to installing xpsp3. can this game run on xpsp2? and how?

For XP you can alter the registry to fool the game into thinking it's running on SP3 but that doesn't work on other OS's, unsure if any other hacks or utilities have been made that also does this without having to alter the registry but it's possible there might be some utility available that can do this.

B-b-but the PC version has a lot of things going on in the background.
And the P-P-PC version looks better, Rockstar also said its made for high-end PCs which need to travel back in time to play a game which runs smoothly on a vastly inferior platform.

They haven´t even confirmed that there´s work in progress to solve any performance problems...Someone from R*Toronto posts eventualy in gtaforums, and he skips every single performance related question. They don´t give a shit about this version, that´s for sure.

GTAVC = 30fps.
GTASA = 28fps.
GTAIV = 25fps if you're lucky.
... I notice a pattern.
