No. Since Quantum of Solace is part of the James Bond franchise and with the success of Casino Royale it is expected to be a blockbuster hit, there is no reason why it shouldn't have beaten Twighlight. With you're response, you're trying to say that emo kids influence the movie industry? If that is the case does that mean emo kids put films like Shawshank Redemption and Godfather where it is today? I think not you idiot.

You clearly don't read newspapers or know that the books are all the rave which is why they made a movie to capitalize of the emo-fandom and rake in some cash. So go ahead, spend your money on a slimey teen-emo romance movie. Wink

When did I say I was going to pay money to watch Twighlight? I said I was curious to watch it. Even with the huge emo following it wouldn't have put it where it is now at the box office. There are other people in life that go to the cinemas besides emos.

And whats your point being repeating what I said? The film is partly a love film as well which is another reason for its success.

It's not just emo kids, but 12 year old girls as well. It did well for the same reasons that something like high school musical does well -- because tweens and teens today have no fucking taste.

Thats what I'm trying to say. The reason for Twighlight's success is not just because of emo kids. Thanks for clearing it up.

@Frant

Man, they CANT remake the crow...especially if they drop the gothic/grungy/dark/evil theme...it wont be the crow then. It'll be a parody, a joke.
I didnt even like the Crow 2....Brandon Lee is the Crow and will always be the the Crow. Cant be remade, doesnt need to be remade. Everything about the movie was perfect. The action, the theme, the characters (except for the main bad guy, thought he was queerish), the soundtrack etc

Fuckin hollywood. I understand remaking movies from the 50's and 60's and stuff. But the Crow was done in like what, 94 or something? its 14 years old....jesus christ hollywood needs some new ppl to come up with innovative, creative movies.

And remaking Escape from NY (or even LA) is just wrong...another movie you cant remake. Unless they stick to the EXACT same story, dont use any cgi (thats what i loved about 80's and early 90's action movies, everything was real stunts or like puppet type things like in Alien) and find an actor who's as badass as kurt russel....and not some pretty boy, model type fag that they use in almost every movie nowadays. I want my action hero's to look tough, hyper masculine etc....not some fruit with highlights in his hair and shit like that.

As for Twilight, today on some tv show (like something along the lines of Entertainment Tonight), they called Twilight the first EPIC romance since Titanic. I didnt mind Titanic. Wasnt bad.
But comparing Twilight to Titanic.....Rolling Eyes idiotic.

@nouse

Totally true man. Tweens/Teens (most anyway) dont have any sense of taste. All they see is some 'hot' guy (i think he looks fugly tbh) and automatically the movie is good, regardless of the acting quality or the content.

Atleast the Twilight guy is a one hit wonder....he prolly wont be in any other movies....he's a shitty actor (based on the clips ive seen of the movie on shows and what not). He wont be in any serious, adult oriented movie. He may get one or two more roles in a tween/teen 'romance' but thats it imo. Sex appeal only goes so far and considering the attention span of kids nowadays, some new pretty boy will pop up and he will be forgotten.

I'd love to meet him on the street tho, id give him a few slaps....guy annoys the shit outta me (saw him on Jay Leno or Jimmy Kimmel).

And as for highschool musical....how anyone over the age of 12 watches movies like that (my exwife watches them, no joke) is beyond me. Aside from the stupid dance routines, the plots are ridiculous and the acting is abysmal....

What happened to the need to actually have talent to act in hollywood movies nowadays...?

And I do like musicals, Fred Astair musicals. That guy was cool. Manly features, good dancer (in a male way, not like these male dancers who dance like women...shaking their hips and shit...gay) and a good actor and he was a ladies man. Those were the days when the more masculine you looked, the better it was for you.
Now its the metrosexual/feminine you look, the better it is....retarded. I hope that trend dies in the next few years. Men should look like men, not feminine...

I love the review on imdb:

Quote:
But does Kristin Stewart have more than two expressions? She alternates between a vacant stare that is meant to denote intensity, and a stare with a tiny frown between her eyes that denotes distress. She speaks in a monotone and slouches around when she's not curled up in a fetal position, leaving one to wonder -- what exactly does Edward see in this girl, anyway? And Robert Pattinson -- He reminds me of "The Look" that Ben Stiller "perfected" in "Zoolander" -- i.e., a dozen looks, and they all look precisely alike. He can, at least, scowl nicely -- and as a result, tends to overuse it. Basically, though -- he can't act.

So true Laughing

God awful film. In fact, saying it's a god awful film is an insult to god awful film.

How anyone can watch this drivel and like it is utterly beyond my comprehension.

His reviews are usually ~20 minutes, but sometimes he goes longer. I think his longest review/playthrough (he was rambling on a game while he was playing through it) was like 5 or so hours. Laughing In 1 hour episodes. The game was Phantasmagoria 2 BTW.

And hell, Spoony is one of my favourite reviewers, since AVGN's jokes got a little stale... But otherwise I watch Nostalgia Critic, AVGN, Zero Punctuation, Spoony, Nostalgia Chick and Until We Win.

As I said in another thread, took my niece and her friends to see it. Fell asleep.
Storylines, acting....everything about the movies suck.
As I said in the other thread....whoever is making the movies or financing them is just capitalizing on tween/teenage girls and cougars.
